Agree, i don't like it at all..in fact is one of the reason why i don't like this song so much, remind me of her voice without true feeling and emotion

Mariah Carey and emotion are not two things I see going together. The Queen of over-singing to compensate for not being able to hold a proper tune. I'm harsh today...I know

There's nothing wrong with Ms. Carey's ability to "hold a proper tune", but she does have a tendency to over cook these things a bit. Sometimes less really is more.

Perhaps she traded her soul for a gold set of pipes so she is cursed to live thru the notes she so tries to reach forever but can only fall to earth like a rock with no wings to make it to heaven. Heaven is another pair of highheels & no way she can get off the ground with them things on...

Each to thier own. Im not a huge fan of her either....but I give credit where I feel its due, thats all. Maybe Im being a little biast cuz Open Arms is one of my Journey favorites...lol, and if u can belt it out like that...then props to u! I just happen to love it.

I remember those as a child.

Man did I hate them waking up in a sweat!
I can only describe them as the most sickening feeling of some sort of electromagnetic field where you felt your body riding onto & it felt like heck it was almost unbearable & you kept going & could not escape...
A fallin feeling but it was on some sort of waves that you could feel. I almost forgot about them until you mentioned the rollercoaster thru hell.
Luckily I don;t think I had them past maybe 10 years of age or so!

She's done the high pitched squeal way too much in her music. Impressive the first few times, maybe, but after that...it gets to be too much too often.

Andrew- seeing Britney Spears singing this makes Mariah look @ least 3rd rate. Some songs should never be covered !

You're very brave to come out as an Open Arms lover on this forum. People have been pretty brutal of their criticism of this song even when Steve Perry sang it. But you're not alone PD, I love it too.

While Mariah Carey has a great voice she doesn't do a very good rendition of "Open Arms". Didn't care for it.
