The Journey BLAST song....

Okay, so when I've had a ton of Mt. Dew or caffeine, it is a MUST to put my headphones and blast the song "Raise on Radio".

I don't know why but I think that song just kicks ass and is totally underrated. It was the first time I heard Journey use a 5-string bass (I think that's Jackson on bass, but I can't remember the friggin' liner notes, just remember that huge dude with the eraser haircut playing that in Seattle in 86- Yo Dog- just play the bass and don't try to speak DUDE), and Neal's rhythm guitar also has a big, punchy sound that I hadn't heard on a Journey song before. TPerry's lyrics paying homage to songs from the 50s and early 60s also rock. The song just kicks my ass every time I hear it.

Carry on with your day now...

Used to be Escape for me too. With headphones, listen to ROR then Escape (the songs). Escape just doesn't have that punch. Sounds like the recording of Escape was just so compressed that it took all the balls out of it. Neal's guitar... I dunno, to me it hasn't been that fat until maybe ROR. His leads always sound good, but his rhythm sound just sounds funky and whimpy on those earlier albums.

I CAN SEE IT IN YOUR EYES- Good Call. In my original post, I'd listed Higher Place and Arnel's version of "Only the Young" too, but out of all of them, it's ROR for me.

Love the song, but it's too slow and doesn't have the pumpage factor.

In Self Defense also comes close....

Slap if you will young man, but do the headphone test and you'll see what I mean...
Whimpy Whimpy Whimpy. Too bad because Escape, as a song, is one of their best.

You are getting slapped for saying a ROR track is superior to an E5P4P3 track.

I think the SONGS on Escape are better, but the SOUND of the tracks on Escape don't compare with the sounds on ROR. Listen to the guitar on "Stone in Love". That rhythm guitar just sounds UN-inyerface. I dunno... Perry did a good job of producing ROR in that the sounds were great. The songs to me are pretty darned dated sounding (moreso than any other Journey album), but sonically, it's a great record.

Yeah, ROR does sound dated. But I love the way E5C4P3 sounds, especially the bass. I wish I knew the technical terms to use, but to me, E5C4P3 sounds bright and clear, while Frontiers and ROR sound dull.

Hey bry. How funny would it be to see Perry and Schon perform dressed like our avatars.

hahaha. yeah, that'd be cool. Then, if Perry performed AT ALL.... oh, never mind. I think that photo of Neal looks much better than the early ones of him where he had those weird 70s, capey, velvety looking things. The mustache though.... not since Yellow Submarine has there been a mustache like that! Neal coulda fit right in...

this post is getting funny...
You cannot tell me that Escape is a sonically better album. The depth of the drums on ROR, the bass, everything SOUNDS so much bigger. Wish Escape had use those production techniques.

Not sure whether a Journey Blast song............but whenever I hear this song come on in the car, there always seems to be a metaphysical reaction between my brain and my foot on the gas pedal.

I think treadmills are gay, but if forced, anything by Iron Maiden would probably do the trick.
