Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Petition

Just saw this at Journey's site. Is it normal for bands to actually solicit votes from their fans like this? I'm just curious, that's all. I've never seen it before on other sites but maybe I just missed it or something.

For Rock Bands it is actually more common to solicit groupies!

That's what I always thought.

Maybe they are soliciting groupies but using the HOF petition as a cover.

Technically the petition was "created for Journey by the fans to request the induction
of Journey into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame".

:)

it'll never happen. Not in a million years.

So the band is just providing the fan's a online space to host their request?

Journey are too old for groupies. By the time the viagra kicks in, it's time to leave for the next city.

They would look like Chicago up on the podium with all the different singers and band members.
Fair or not, speculation over whether or not Perry would show up would overshadow everything else leading up to the induction.

Well... yes.
It certainly seems awkward, but there's still this out:
Is "JF" really Journey's official website, or is it actually a fansite (Lori's)
that Journey has given its de facto seal of approval to?

Let me be the one to say it then, dude...
FAIL!

I'm still waiting for the Moody Blues to get in.

Is Garth Brooks in yet? That dude has sold more records than Elvis.

That's the thing isn't it? It should be group or singer that was a pioneer in the industry. I was just thinking that Def Leppard of all people really paved the way for hard rock groups to maintain a continued presence in the TOP 40 radio rotation. Didn't they have something like seven Hot 100 hits from Hysteria alone?

hmmm

the old site had 10,000 member.... HOF petition was tried then... no luck

the new site has 5,000 members.... HOF petition will most likely go down in flames...

the Real Question is... since Neal has made Arnel a "full member".... that means he gets inducted too... so if AP's fans get behind this there may be a chance for Journey to "ride that wave"...

Arnel is also Singer number four or five (depending on who's counting) for a group that is not supposed to be a harmony band with multiple leads.

Wasn't there something mentioned awhile back about the HOF not even looking at online petitions anymore because people can use bots to inflate the vote?

We'll see how it works out for them. I wish them luck.

I don't think so... wasn't there a band recently that made it in because of that... or that's what was said.

If friggin' Bob Seger can make it in, then what the hell's the deal with other acts not getting in? They should make it follow a criteria and when any rock band hits it, they're in. That's fair.

Jann Wenner's a dick anyway.

If we go by sales alone, ABBA should have been inducted a long time ago. 370 million albums sold worldwide. Who can beat that?

Ok, let's start some real fucking controversey. Let's pretend Journey does get the call. Who goes onstage at the induction ceremony? I say Herbert, Rolie, Schon, Nostrildamus, Cain, Valory, Smith and Dunbar.

Honestly, the vision I had in my head was of him introducing them. I also saw Lora, Cyndy, Augeri and Arnel in the front row. In all reality, the fan club and its intimate relationship with the fans probably makes them at least as important as Dunbar. A lot of those sold out stadiums were, to some substantial variable degree, a direct result of Journey Force and a lot of hard work behind the scenes. And for some sick fucking reason stevew2 was in the crowd with his "Jon Friga N" shirt on wrestling around with Tito, who was wearing a "It's CAIN!!!" shirt.

Ok - to add on to your vision, try this......stevew/Jon Friga N shirt and Tito/It's Cain shirt - both also in black speedo's, make those shirts crops and a pile of mud, women screaming......

damn there goes my sweet slumber tonight - enough to keep my eyes open.
