Later this year, the Philadelphia Spectrum will be torn down. But millions of great memories will forever exist for those who have been there to see amazing concerts and sporting events. Journey played the building a number of times, and the live Raised on Radio show was recorded here.

Here's a link to their official site. Lots of great photos, backstage passes, concert history, etc.

I saw my second Journey concert there in May of 82. Man, that's when opening acts were doing platinum albums themselves. Reo with Survivor, Van Halen with Autograph, Billy Squier and Queen. Yes, Rush, Motley Crew and Ozzie. I have to admit though, sometimes I just went to be with the cool guys and girls in school instead of going for the music
I had to cut a lot of lawns and shovel a lot of snow to cover my concert tickets. Luckily, my parents helped me out a lot.
I remember Men at work with Fleetwood Mac and Kansas opening for Genesis. All very cool shows.
Adam Ant with the Romantics, yeah, I'm a dork.

More Dork moments, Going there with my Neighbor to See Hulk Hogan, Tony Atlas and Bob Backland of WWF.

I remember Superstar Billy Graham selling out the place every time he wrestled there. Of course, that's when wrestling was real

I remember the first time I was going to a Hockey game at the Spectrum....Oakland Golden Seals vs Flyers. Damn if the roof didn't get partially blown off and game cancelled. Wound up seeing Bobby Orr destroy the fly-Boys later instead. and The Flyers fight for Wives carnival that actually wasn't expensive and the players were on ice for ya..See Rifle Reggie Leach break the golass behind the net with his rocket slap shots.

Where is Peter Cetera when you need him?

Old days
Good times I remember
Fun days
Filled with simple pleasures
Drive-in movies
Comic books
and blue jeans
Howdy doody
Baseball cards
and birthdays
Take me back
To a world gone away
Memories
Seem like yesterday

I remember my Broad Street Bullies teaching the Russsians a thing or two... the bat that made its way onto the ice. I think it was Hound Dog that killed it..... gah. Dad had season tickets, and I went to all of the games. Bobby Clarke.... yup.

Kate Smith LIVE. Now that kicked ass like no other game.

Not to mention the concerts. Yes, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Billy Joel, too many to name. Good times.
