I'm watching the Pilot, and I'm beginning to wonder that the writer is a really big Journey fan.
I'm 30 minutes in and I've noticed two Journey plugs already. [DSB in the commercials and Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' at the 30 minute mark.]
Anyone else notice it?

They said they loved Steve Perry and would like for him to do some kind of promotion with the show.

I can surely tell.
Four Journey Plugs [including the promo] in one episode? Something's going down and I like it.

LOVED the DSB at the end. Very cool. A show that took me totally by surprise. Very entertaining, and the NIP/TUCK guys give it just the right amount of edge. And friggin Jane Lynch? BRILLIANT as the sadistic cheerleading sponsor.
Good stuff all around. My facebook is lit up about this thing tonight. HUNDREDS of posts loving it. You gotta wonder just how much mileage a band can get out of one damned song.

Watch DSB rise once again on iTunes top 100 songs list by next week. Right now the Glee version is at #48 and Journey's at #52.

At one point this showed it at #3 for the Glee club version and #34 for the GH version. This chart is in real time so the numbers change constantly.

Huge, huge boost for the posterity of Journey's legacy. The next years are going to be interesting. Sit down, shut up and hang on!

It took me by surprise.....I was ready to diss it and I really liked it....and yes the Journey music put a smile on my face. The show was full of off beat humor and actually is very funny.
(and for me it did not hurt that the person who was singing was SMFP).........

I did. I liked it and would keep watching once the season starts. It really took me back to my high school years. HA

I watched the show last night and was pleasantly surprised hearing LTS. I also enjoyed the group singing DSB and thought it was much better than the clip they kept using for the commercials. The lady who is in charge of the cheerleaders cracks me up .... I have always enjoyed her in previous roles on other shows.
I hope the show continues and does well ... so far their music choices are excellent...

I know my daughter kept saying how she loved the Glee version better than the original. Good way to get the music to a whole new generation!!

Well placed show (right after Idol... couldn't ask for a better intro time slot). I didn't care for mullet-bearing lawn guy lip-synching to LTS. I kept expecting David Spade to shove him over and take over. Other than that... good show, decent writing, and yeah... the kids can sing. There's no doubt the writers are Journey fans -- which of course makes them highly intelligent and with superior taste.
The dancing tho... is that new? I did glee club, and we stood there on risers. That's the only thing I don't get, but hey... television, they can get away with it.

Had absolutely no interest in seeing this show, as it was the last straw with my affection for DSB. Because of these endless commercials, I now totally hate the song.
To me, this is just a modern day version of "Fame". :::shrug:::

I have to agree. The amount of pitch control they were using also just completely ruined it. There were some funny moments in the show and as a show, it was okay, but the DSB thing was SOOOO corny.... I guess the HS Musical crowd will dig it and that's cool. I'm too old I think.

No, worse. "Fame" doesn't sound as gay as "Gleeeee!"
I think Friga is a producer for this show.
Next up, a show about jazz hands.

They were talking about Steve Perry being totally on board with the show. I wonder if they were giving him a nod with LTS as that was the first big hit he penned by himself.
And Reinventing a song is 100% different than re-recording a song note for note, so I'm totally cool with that aspect of the show.

Too bad it wasn't a better Journey song that was granted immortality.

Are you joking?!? What better Journey song could there possibley
BE? Okay, I don't know if I love the song so much, or if it's just the thought that every time DSB makes a run up the charts it's like giving the finger to all of the music industry snobs/critics/haters who never missed an opportunity to dismiss Journey back in the day. I have to chuckle. Their music really is standing the test of time...oh yeah, and...cha-ching, baby!

+1 - After Glee the song put a smile back on my face and I was at the oh no not again phase with it.

I second that. I wonder how many people would be watching this show if it didn't have a Perry connection. Hmmmm........

It reminds me of freakin' Beverly Hills 90210. Why would anyone over the age of seventeen have any interest in watching it? ChildInTime? Deacon? What say you?
(PS. Yes, I know Deacon is the one who started this thread, but he didn't really say whether or not he liked it.)
