Any one else notice that many of the recent bands' lead vocals sound just like Weird Al Yankovic?

I'll search Youtube for evidence when I'm not at work.

Anberlin is INCREDIBLE.

I saw them live last week and they were riveting. Great energy, positive music, and solid musicianship/songwriting.

Their album "New Surrender" is one of the best releases of any genre in the past year, I'd say. Very unique sound but still has elements of present and past influences, including very Journeyesque passages/melodies and Delpish vocals.

Paramore and Fall Out Boy are pre-pubescent/teenage girls bands and in my opinion, plain awful.

Fall Out Boy WAS good but their past two albums have been complete garbage. The last album of theirs that can be taken remotely seriously is "From Under the Cork Tree."

Paramore never had legitimacy in my eyes.

I can't post any links from work, but to me...the best new bands (Not really modern though) are Simon Collins, and Trev Lukather. That's as close to "modern" as I like to get!

Rascal Flatts or Casting Crowns.

Both excellent bands. Not everyone's favorite genres, but I love 'em both.

I somewhat agree. I am by no means a country fan, and would never by a country ticket or CD. However, bands like Rascal Flatts seem to be damn talented. In my opinion, their cover of Life Is A Highway was the most rockin' thing in the past 5 years. (It had the big guitar, high vocals, and harmonies like we all love.) Plus, it is my understanding that they cover bands like Edgar Winter & Boston in concert (plus the bass player produced Chicago's last album)!

Not a personal favorite, well worthy or my respect!

I couldn't agree more, no substance to their music at all. A friend of mine from college went and saw Fall Out Boy awhile ago and said the entire crowd was middle school aged kids and their parents. He wasn't impressed at all.

Well, I'm taking my 13 year old daughter to see Paramore (oh, and No Doubt) next week, so that is probably true. I did get meet and greet passes for her though and we are both pretty excited! Hayley Williams has a great voice.

Best new bands?? Has anyone seen Shinedown? They are great! And not to mention Hinder,Avenged Sevenfold, Buckcherry and last but not least Papa Roach. I honestly thought Papa Roach would be more along the line of rap. Went and seen them and I was really impressed with their music and showmanship. So I bought VIP tickets for Charlotte for the Nickelback show.Which will be my third time seeing my new favorite group and yes Hinder will be there as will Papa Roach. But I found out last week Journey is coming to my town on Sept., 16th. Tickets have not went on sale yet but it is a must have.

Was it you who sent the link for that Second Chance song? I'd never heard of the band before (not big over the pond) but I've been listening to that song non stop since it was posted, amazing.

Hinder are a good band from the stuff I've heard aswell. Ditto for Avenged Sevenfold.. that song were he is in prison singing is just fantastic.

Buckcherry are garbage.

Side note: My first-ever date with my girlfriend was at a concert featuring Saving Abel, Shinedown, Buckcherry, and Avenged Sevenfold. HELL of a first date!!

Tito likes them creeps. I think they're easily one of the worst bands out there. Absolutely hate them. Much like I did Jackyl back in the day. Would like to take a chainsaw and cut off the heads of both lead singers.
