When I go to watch an embedded video on some sites, I get a blank black screen and in the top left corner a small white box with a RED SQUARE, GREEEN CIRCLE, BLUE TRIANGLE inside it.
anyone know how to fix this?

Try this first. Go to advanced Options in IE settings and make sure Show Pictures is checked.

Almost sounds like a Windows Media Player icon. In some cases I've had to install a newer version of WMP to correct similar issues. Be sure also to find out what format those sites stream in -- Windows Media, Quicktime, RealPlayer, or sometimes even DivX.

Guessing what Rip said... either you don't have Quicktime or Real Player or whatever these sites are using.
Hit the Print Screen Button-Should be to the right of F12.

It could also be listed as PRNT SCRN or PTR SCRN. You may have to use a ctrl or shift key in conjunction but just do it.
You won't see anything happen, but after you do that go to Start>Accessories>Paint and then Use your paste function. You'll know see an image of your issue.
Save that image to your desktop. Then use a photo host, I use tinypic.com and upload the image. I make it smaller using the tools there.
Once we see what you're talking about, then maybe we give you a better answer.

Correct... Go to Adobe.com and make sure you have Flash Player and Shockwave player installed.
On a side note... Be VERY careful when it comes to anything Windows Media Player related. The Conflicker virus has been known to be hidden within certain "codecs" on some websites with embedded videos. It'll usually ask you to update your WMP with a new codec or something and then offer the download. It'll even mimic an official Windows or Microsoft download box. Do not get anything unless it's directly off the M$ website.
