Steal all you want. Go to Salcombe if you ever can. Unreal place.

Thanks! It looks like a pretty town to see so I'll keep your recommendation in mind if I get over that way.
Thats a great pic of the happy couple too! Sweet spot for a wedding! :)

Was not raised with my dad, although he did raise my lovely half sister. I do respect, however, the bond between father and daughter. I think your daughter is very blessed to have you as her father. Congrats and thanks for the wonderful photos!

PS - My youngest niece is away at college in London, I think she transferred to Leeds, not sure of the name. :D MBPL

Excellent photos and congrats!

We went to many of the same places you did while we were there many years ago, except it absolutely poured the day we were in Warwick. We took photos of Stonehenge through the fence, too.

BTW, did you get to see the really large stone circles in Avebury (http://www.avebury-web.co.uk)? If I recall correctly, I think these circles (there are 3) may be older than Stonehenge and one surrounds the town. While there, we were able to walk among the stones, touch them, take pictures, etc. We also came upon a church that was about 700 years old (can't remember it's name).

We spent about a week in England. We also went to the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben/Parliament, The British Museum, Windsor Castle, Westminster Abbey, Glastonbury Abbey and Tor, Bath, and Chatsworth House (http://www.chatsworth.org - where we got locked in! ). I can't recall where else we visted right now, but I'm sure that I'm forgetting some. We even did our own little Def Leppard tour and visited many of the sites in Sheffield where they started out and visited Steve Clark's grave (surprisingly it was very modest).

I'd love to go back again to see more of the country, as well as visit Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.

Debbie

Salcombe, or more accurately one of the nearby beaches was the scene of one of the worst friendly fire incidents in history. During WWII thousands of US troops were stationed on the South Devon coast in readiness for the D Day landings. Prior to the landings the Americans carried out a dry run with thousands of troops landing on one of the beaches near Salcombe. Disaster struck when the landing craft were attacked by German U boats, but to make matters worse the troops manning the onshore defences opened up on the troops landing on the beaches with live ammunition.
