It seems that Prince is in alot of pain, but refuses surgery because it will require blood transfusions--against his Jehovah Witness faith.

That's crazy, the surgery provides
major relief. My dad is going through a double hip surgery this year also. Very painful, especially when it gets to the bone on bone stage....but my dad's a tough little fart.

Had the left one done earlier this year and has healed great, he can't believe the movement he has now and NO pain on that side. Getting his right one done in July. He couldn't drive for 6 weeks after the left hip and won't be able to drive for 3 months after the right hip (you can't turn your foot in or out very much until all the tissue, etc. has healed to the new hip joint properly) and that's the leg you gas/break with. House bound 6 weeks almost drove him nuts, 3 months is going to be hell for my poor mom.

Hell with Prince. He's a nutbag.
If he doesn't want to do it, then let him be in pain and ask me if I care that much.
My opinion of him greatly diminished after that b.s. with his fansites.
That little bastard doesn't care about anyone but himself, so F him.

Is it transfusions in general, or transfusions from others? He's going to be disabled before too long, so why doesn't he give blood in the amount needed for the surgery (a round at a time until he has what is required) and then have the surgery with his own blood? Duh... maybe it's not done that way, but hell it has to be an option.

I bet he regrets doing all of those splits in his lifetime.

I can't remember if it's their blood too. But there is synthetic type blood that can be used for them. I took a case once that involved this b/c they accidently mixed in human blood in the transfusion and even though the operation was a huge success she didn't care and she sued and was beyond distraut over the thought of human blood being used.

That is also against the JW practice.
Because Witnesses believe that any blood that leaves the body must be destroyed, they do not approve of an individual storing his own blood for a later auto-transfusion. 2 J.R. Brown, a spokesperson for the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society, said: "Blood removed from an individual is to be poured out or discarded."

Oh, wow. Well, to each their own. Personally, I'm pretty partial to mobility. But if that's what he believes, then there ya go.

That's just crazy on his part.I had my left hip done in April.Let me tell you bone on bone is not fun and you still have to work 80hours aweek.

Hurt like hell i was so glad when they set the date to have it done.

I feel great .. i have to have both knees done next but it's better than hurting like hell.Glad your dad is doing great Deb.Well keep him in my prayers for the next one.

Excuse my ignorance, but there seems to be so many people that need hip and knee replacements. Is it because of arthritis?

Yeah, I'm a fan of that also. I also really enjoy not being in pain. It's pretty cool.

I remember an incident on base in the Philippines with a guy whose wife was a JW. Their kid needed surgery for a car accident and the mom didn't want to let the transfusion happen. The base commander had to pull one of those "This is my base, I am GOD and it will be done". And so it was.

Have you ever noticed he's about the size of a hobbit?

It'd take him forever to generate that much blood.

And people wonder why there are athiests and agnostics in this world. This is the kind of worship that just boggles the mind.

No. The dude had married some bargirl and becoming a Jehovah witness gave her some comfort as pentance for working the clubs or something like that. The guy thought nothing of it until the shit hit the fan. After the incident, he ended up divorcing her, but that may have had more to do with boinking her cousin, who was his housemaid rather than going against her on the surgery issue.

Prince can have the surgery.... Jehovah's Witness's can use the cell saver machine during surgery. It cleans the blood and puts it back in ... I know this because I know a few Witness's who have used this technology...and if he had done his research, he would of found this out.
I think Prince is being a wuss...

Michael Jackson, Prince and Madonna defined the 80's. This guy's an icon and I wish the weird little motherfucker the best. What a talent. As a total package (writer, singer, composer, performer) he's as talented as anyone over the last 25 or so years. Simply genius.
