Britney to tour OZ

I'm glad to see that she hasn't folded like a lot of critics predicted. 60 million albums sold? I don't care if she can't sing, there has to be some kind of talent to backup those numbers.
As far as the lip syncing goes, at least she admits to it.

Pop star Britney Spears has announced she will tour Australia in November for the first time in her career.

In a statement on her website, the 27-year-old said she had wanted to visit the country for "quite some time".

The star, who is currently performing in London, will play six nights, kicking off in Perth.

"My Circus tour is the best show I have ever created and I can't wait to perform it for all of my Australian fans," she said.

She will also play two gigs in Melbourne, Sydney and one concert in Brisbane.

Since topping the charts as a teenager with Baby One More Time, the star has sold more than 60 million albums worldwide.

In recent years there has been concern over her health, as her erratic behaviour eventually led to a stint in rehab. She also lost full-time custody of her two sons.

The tour, which started in the US, has received mixed reviews, with many critics disapproving of Spears' decision to mime large portions of the show.

However, her high energy dance routines have been praised and some agree the gigs mark her official comeback.

Her current album Circus was released on 2 December - the date of her birthday.

It debuted at number one in six countries including Canada, Switzerland, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, and top 10 in an additional seven countries.

I like Britney. Great studio releasing talent. Oops I Did It Again and Hit Me Baby One More Time are great jams. So is Toxic.

They reduced VIP ticket sales for her last concert at the O2 from £98 to £2. Something about not selling it out looking bad on her image.
Not that she has anything to worry about, her Circus tour is currently the highest grossing act this year.

She's also coming to North Dakota in September, and I'm very interested to see how sales pan out.

Awesome, now Andrew can finally go see her. I talked to him a few weeks ago, and we were talking about American bands. He mentioned her (I was really surprised by this) and said he actually considered her an American Icon, and wished he could catch one of her shows. He of course realizes that she lips, but said it would be an awesome show. Australians can be a little different I guess, but to each his own!

Yeah, I am sure he will be out in his sleeping bag the night before the tickets go on sale, so he can get front row, center. :)

I did not link it out of respect for Andrew. Word is that Crocker is an ex-pat from Melbourne.

I'm sure we as a continent will show restraint in good taste and refuse to buy tickets to this puppet show.

Britny seriously is nothing more than a publicity shot...a puppet for the songwriters that vie to get their songs on her "recordings" so they can cash in on radio play and publishing as no one is interested in them a solo artist.

Britny turns up in the studo, lays down a "vocal" and the wizards tune and turn the nobs until a song is created and attributed to her. Take a careful listen to her songs - do we even know what her voice actually sounds like? No....it's all sampling/effects/layered harmoines from backing vocalists and other studio tricks.

She is in reality a completely shitful vocalist (as evidenced in various "live" performance vocals being leaked) and couldn't write a song if her life depended upon it.

Now...this is a MUSIC message board, so let's not waste anymore time on this "dancing muppet".

You hit the nail on the head. And for those who think she can dance, she can only do the same ol' same ol' she's been doing, very dated dance moves. Now, Madonna can do new and interesting choreography every time, plus write her music.

Damn, if the girl could sing one song in the concert live I would give her a pass, but she has no voice anymore and no innovative routines to make up for it. But more power to her on this tour. She obviously has a lot of fans that have been waiting for her to make her comeback and are making this tour a success.

But I am a total hypocrite. I have Gimme' More on my iPod to run to.

She's sold 60 million albums! What's wrong with people today? I guess blond hair and boobs sell, screw talent. I belong to a large tech forum and if someone makes a post in the off topic or lounge section about a rapper, britney or other pop singer, the thread will run 10-20 pages. If I make a post about Journey, I might get 10 posts and half of them are either saying Journey isn't Journey without Perry, or that Journey sucks. Ages there are predominately 20 somethings. The rant is that these youngsters don't understand or appreciate talent and this shows by how many POS bands sell multimillions of albums. Maybe I'm biased, but very seldom does anything new come out that impresses me.

LOL - I doubt that she created much of anything in her career. It's all been scripted and structured for her. Without it, she falls apart.

If she's popular in Japan it's because she's 9 out of every 10 Japanese boy's wet sexual fantasy. Whether it's a despirate and confused jackoff session with themselves or while their doing their girlfriend, the've just got blonds on their mind. Just ask Traci Lords.
