Is Deen a co-lead singer for the band?

Deen keeps adding songs to his own setlist that Arnel doesn't sing such as the one's listed below.
Still they ride
After The fall
Mother , Father
Keep on Runnin'
One More?
During JSS time with the band
Open Arms
Faithfully
I already think Deen's the MVP for the band but I think he should also be recognized as a legitimate lead singer also.
A simple poll with no gray area should suffice.

I want to hear Arnel take a shot at IBAWY.
Deens been handling that one too, most excellently, I might add.

I wouldn't mind hearing him sing on an entire Journey album. That, or even hear him sing in a project similar to Journey. When Journey released "Generations", I really only liked the 2 songs that he sang. I did semi-like one of Augeri's (can't recall which one now), but the rest of the album sucked IMHO. Deen has a great voice, and should receive much more recognition than he does.

I voted yes. And I think it's a good thing. Perry had several voices as his voice aged and expecting Arnel to capture the later years is a tall order. Considering Deen has that same gritty sound as Perry due to years of wear and tear and the aging process, why not let him sing the songs that he can sound closer than Arnel on. It's also refreshing that there seems to be no egos in the band.

Does anyone know all the songs Deen sang when Augeri's voice went downhill?

Neal has
never had an ego. He just shows up and plays/records. Nothing more and nothing less.

There's nothing wrong with it being a group effort. The Moody Blues and Chicago have used more than one singer and they have sold millions of albums.
Arnel can parrot acceptionally well but having him do change ups every night might toast him. I stil think the ROR material would suit Arnel better but Neal obviously knows what's best. TBF would be a sure match too, but it's not like anyone is going to know too many songs off of that album to begin with.

Agreed. Now, I mean, he has a healthy ego, which all band members, especially founding members do, and probably a temper, but he's a team player through and through. But definitely, to me, not an egomaniacal personality. A working musician who has a love and passion for music.

Treats you right, does he? Flowers and Chocolates, or that unexpected phone call during the day to say he's thinking of you?
It's all good.

I have a dvd boot that Deen sang 4 oldies on. Back when they were doing the long shows, I think it is Konocti or something like that? Patiently, La Do Da, Where Were You and one other one, can't remember it off the top of my head.

You guys are arguing over whether or not rock stars have egos. Brilliant.

Though hardly popular sentiments among some, this is true.

Just a purely objective comment regarding Neal by a fan.

I think Deen is definitely the MVP of the band. Co -lead singer, not really. Of course one wouldnt necessarily say that Arnel is leading the band out there on stage, so perhaps hes the singer but not the lead singer.
Anyway my point is it all seems pretty gray - but from the sounds of things Arnel is sounding pretty darn good on what hes been singing and I know that Deen sends shivers down my spine when he sings MOther, Father. Roles notwithstanding, what seems to be going on at the moment is working, so keep it up

I think as band leaders go, on the stage Cain seems to be the conducting everything. Off stage, it's apparently Neal's baby, through and through.
