This is a quick review of Journey's concert in Oslo, Norway 8. june:

The show was set to Sentrum Scene which holds around 1500 people. It was pretty jampacked, but the venue was so small that you could basicly push your way up to front row without much of a problem. They played for approx. 2 hours. Heres the playlist:

Never Walk Away
Only The Young
Ask The Lonely
Stone In Love
I´ll Be Alright Without You (Deen Castronovo)
After All These Years
Change For The Better
Wheel In The Sky
Lights
Open Arms
Mother Father (Deen Castronovo)
One More
Wildest Dreams
Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)
What I Needed
Where Did I Lose Your Love
Escape
Faithfully
Don´t Stop Believin´
Anyway You Want It
EXTRA:
Lovin´Touchin´Squeezin´
Be Good To Yourself

Overall it was a fucking great and intimate concert. The setlist was pretty good; and yes, One More was a blast. I don't understand why they keep including LTS though, cause that song has never, ever, been any good. Probably the best thing about the concert, musicaly, was when Jon started going at it like crazy on his harmonica together with Neal. There was some problems with the sound however, and the detuning was kinda annyoing - and I thought Jon's piano was set way to low in the mix.

Arnel did a fantastic job, and so did both Jon, Deen and Neal. Ross basicly stood way back besides Deen, and looked, at times, like he completly couldn't care less. But I got to give it to Arnel though, cause he really managed to work us up, while doing a good job vocaly.

The crowd was pretty mixed as to age and gender, but I guess the crowd was probably around 35ish in average. I guess 1/6 of the crowd was pinoys. But you know, I allways thought my Journey knowledge was pretty good, but some of the guys there was just crazy. Some of them looked like they hadn't seen sunlight, or something other than pizza, for a lifetime - and one guy behind wouldn't stop bitching about what a good guitarist George Tickner was. So I guess Norway has a small, but hardcore fanbase. Another guy right beside me (around my age: 19) really got on my nerves, and pretty much all the people around him. I mean, I couldn't care less if a guy was gayer than Perez Hilton, but this guy was like Chris Crocker (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHmvkRoEowc&feature=PlayList&p=A2C58CDFF32FA25C&index=0&playnext=1) dipped in pink glitter and tasty cotton candy, and the guy would not shut up - but I digress.

In hindsight; a great concert, and it looks like Journey is in great shape and just having a lot of fun.

Oh, btw, this is a clip of the harmonica-thing I mentioned http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvlBn06ygSE&feature=channel

"I'll Be Alright Without You" right behind "Stone In Love"? Jesus Christ.

First, IBAWY is a fantastic, fantastic, fantastic song. It's just out of place in the set list.

Second, "One More" is another good song and it's great that they're putting it in the list. But it seems relatively random. They should throw in "World Gone Wild" and "Higher Place" and others in there as well.

Maybe they could reattach "Faith in the Heartland"'s balls and play it.

Message of love should be next and dare I say it, at least one attempt at Suzanne? It was a Top 20 hit and Jeremey's fans seem to like it at his shows.

I'd like to see both, but I'm not sure throwing "Suzanne" in would mesh with Neal's vaunted 'new direction'.

Next, we'll hear that an unidentified man held Neal at gunpoint and threatened him if he didn't perform a certain song...

That vid of Separate Ways is nothing short of amazing. But how long do you guys give it before he twists his ankle pretty bad jumping like that. All it takes is one awkward landing and CRACK. I'm worried about that shit.

Do not worry - parfait is here.

I've just sendt a message to the people who was at the concert that I know, and the people who added the vids on face and youtube - so I'm pretty sure a clip of One More will end up in my inbox soon enough.

Oh, and about the setlist; they had a lot of transitional pieces and stuff like that so IBAWY didn't seem that out of place. Can't Tame a Lion, Liberty, With a Tear or even Suzanne as you guys mentioned would sound great, but it really did seem it was a lot edgier than earlier, cause Neal really raped the shit out of his guitar that night (in a... good way :D )

Reading your post too fast, I thought you said "they had a lot of transsexual pieces and stuff like that.." I was disturbed at first, but then relief set in when I re-read it.

Anyway,

Awesome. Thanks for the review, that's what we like hearing around here. Sounds like you had a great time.
