Meatloaf

Any fans?
I love how the songs are stories onto themselves. Jim Steinman is really a great writer.

Funny you should mention Meatloaf GB. I was listening to an oldies station a few days ago as I was driving up to northern Wisconsin and PBTDL came on. I hadn't heard it in years. Great tune. Meatloaf was a one of a kind. Nobody did the kind of material he did. He also worked with some excellent female singers.

Live, he is shit these days.
His voice just warbles and trembles almost uncontrollably.
Bat 3, it must be said, was criminally under-appreciated.
The mix of Steinman broadway rock and Desmond Child modern rock surprisingly complimented each other.
In fact, it breaks up the show tune monotony of non-stop Steinman ham.
Great album.

Desmond Child, now there's a force in song writing. Aerosmith and Bon Jovi have benefited tremendously from that guy's talent.

I have seen him twice - once in the 80's with BOC - it was a fantastic show....he was all over the place..the second was late 90's early 2000's he has slowed down a little but it was still fun...much smaller venue...so it was more intmate

I saw him last year and his voice literally gone completely, I dont know what it is.. it just isnt there. But the show was still great. And Bat 3 was a really good album I thought.

New album this year also, which is quite exciting. Not written by Child though.

I can't either. After the first 14 minutes of a Meatloaf song, I can't handle it anymore, so I don't hang around for the last 32 minutes.

Bat out of hell has sold over 43 million albums worldwide. It's the fourth best selling album of all time. I guess someone liked his voice enough to put their money down.

Yeah, it's sad what he's been reduced to live. I saw the guy in the late 80's at the Ritz and it was one of the best live shows I've ever seen.
Not really sharing the BAT 3 love. For me, the Steinman ham is the point of Meatloaf. When he strays too far from that formula is usually when I turn him off.

Some of the songs are like Bon Jovi songs that have been brought up on the other side of the tracks.

Never got into Meatloaf, and was very shocked to hear that Bat out of Hell sold tens of millions a while back. Didn't know he was so big.
