... or being defended in court against charges of including subliminal messages in a Judas Priest song. Ran across this on YT, and he has to sings a piece of the song to prove his point. Always fun seeing heavy metal on trial, just like Dee Snyder being grilled before the Senate.

He should have worn studded leather and a huge pair of mirrored sunglasses to court.

Nice to see the Senate hard at work! What a waste of time all of that was...

Is this part of the Tipper Gore thing, or did that come later?

This was the trial of Judas Priest when two youths commited suicide while listening to (was it) Stained Class which includes the song Better By You (I think). There were allegations of backmasking "Do it" in the song. (The brain sure is foggy after all these years and I can't youtube at work)

I loved watching Dee on Capitol Hill. That was the Tipper Gore thing. It was hilarious to see him with his big wild hair in extremely tight jeans and a sleeveless denim jacket blowing away the PMRC. No one thought he would be intelligent and so well-spoken.

Tipper: What are your fans called?
Dee: SMF Fans.
Tipper: What does SMF stand for?
Dee: Sick Mother Fucking

PRICELESS!!

I remember John Denver showing up and taking the Senate to task over the whole thing.

This is the most ridiculous trial I think I've ever seen in a court of law!

i had mostly all the 80's stuff by judas priest back then around the time of the trial and thought i had almost all the albums.then when i heard and saw all the publicity about those two dudes killing themselves because of 'stained class' i thought man i got to get this tape just to hear it.damn good album too.imagine how many people around this time went out and bought that album because of the publicity.beyond the realms of death is one of the best priest songs ever.

reminds me of that old guy blaming ozzy in an interview saying on 'suicide solution' it sounds like ozzy said...shoot,shoot,shoot and the teen supposedly killed himself.heavy metal got a lot of flack before rap came along and took the headlines.

It will be interesting to see and hear rap singers in court doing their songs because there were people committing crimes while listening to their music too. It's all rediculous. Supposedly play Beatles records backwards and you hear wierd shit, play country songs backwards and you hear them get their wifes back, their four wheel drive trucks back, their houses back, their dog back, and so on.

Everyone knows J.D. was the guy who started the whole satanic backwards-messages trend.

Long Live to The Priest!
