Journey song library is playing tonight.. a few thoughts

Postby musicfan17 » Sun Jun 21, 2009 3:39 pm

So I've got my Windows media player playing through my entire Journey library, and I figure I'll share a few observations.

First, I'm in a pretty darn good mood tonight and enjoying Journey songs from ALL the eras. Reflecting on lots of good memories.

Right now Generations is playing and after not listening to it for a while, it's grown on me quite a bit. BTW..."Believe" reminders me of a classic Journey era tune (i.e Infinity/Evolution era).

Arrival was an underrated album IMO. There are some real classics on this album.

I really enjoy Arnel's voice, especially on the new Revelation material. He owns it.

Steve Perry's voice from Infinity through Escape as we all know was quite amazing. Nuff said.

Captured is truly one of the best live albums I've ever listened to, even all these years later it still sounds awesome!

Evolution remains my favorite Journey studio album. The band was firing on all cylinders and playing with a lot of passion during this period. Neal's guitar playing is totally amazing on Evolution. Lovin' You Is Easy remains one of my favorite Schon solos to this day.

Remember Me is a great Journey tune.

When I listen to most of the albums, concerts etc. consecutively like I did this evening.... I'm in awe of how much terrific music Journey has brought to my life. And by Journey, I mean all it forms past and present, Perry, Augeri and Arnel. I believe that the band is the sum of it's parts, not based on one individual. I've enjoyed it all and already have more great Journey material than any three other bands have provided for me as a fan of music. Proud to be a fan of Journey past and present.
It's All Good...

Thank you! That is probably the most unbiased synopsis of all that is Journey that I have ever read. You seem like a sensible, down to earth fan, sans the lunacy. I am amazed everyday when I listen to various Journey tunes, both past and present. If there ever was an under appreciated band, Journey would be it. They are the fabric of American music culture. Nothing like a great cup of coffee and a great Journey tune on the way to work. Makes my day. Actually, you helped make my night! :D
