According to CNN who got the news from Ed's personal representative , Ed McMahon has passed on . You know they come in three's and it would not suproise me if we lose Walter Cronkite and Farrah shortly after this. Prayers are with all of them .

If Johnny Carson has any class, when Ed McMahon gets to heaven (assuming they're both there) he should say/announce, "Here's Eddie!" That would be the right thing to do.

That would be cool.

Really sad to have seen this on the news this morning. Definitely an American Icon, and what seemed to have been a good man. 86 years old though, that's a pretty good achievement in itself.

Allegedly, he doesn't. I've heard some stories.

In fact, I just heard a radio conversation about Ed and Johnny this morning, but they didn't say anything about Ed passing... I didn't know that until I read this thread. Sad.. RIP, Ed. :(

I'm not so sure Johnny took the up escalator.

Has anyone heard the story about how Johnny was making fun of Wayne Newton? Apparently Wayne got pissed and went to his office and scared the guy so bad, he was on a chair curled up and blubbering. Newton said he felt pity for him.

This is sad news. I so loved Ed Mcmahon and Johnny on the Tonight Show. The Tonight Show for me was never the same when Johnny and Ed left. Ed was a one of a kind treasure he will be very much missed.

Do you think he committed suicide? Wasn't he just recently on TV pleading for someome to save him from losing his home? He didn't look like he was on his death bed to me. I guess he may have had a heart attack, but if he was deathly ill you'd think it would have been on the news like Farrah and Patrick.

Since so much of Ed's career was spent as someone who moved a show along (Tonight Show, Star Search, Jerry Lewis Telethon, Bloopers) I think his gift of moving the spotlight to them and those on those shows was amazing. May he rest in peace.
