How much time do you spend on here?

I have found that this forum can be addicting. It's probably because a lot of 80's melodic rock fans who have an affinity for Journey music come here to hangout and discuss the latest current events. I'm sure many of you get on here during working hours (shame on you - LOL), and some of you even check in to touch base when you are on vacation. It's obviously a very popular forum with a tight-knit community, and I have to admit that I spend too much time here. I have a musicians forum myself and I spend more time on here than I do there - and it has over 2,500 members.

What is it about this forum that draws so many people here? Is it because you can talk openly about Journey and other bands without too much censorship? That's probably the biggest draw for me. Plus the humor of certain forum members is addicting in itself... not to mention that you can usually get music news here faster than anywhere else (this forum acknowledged Jacko's death even before the news stations reported it).

What draws you here the most?

Up until the last two days. Hardly ever over the last several months. I've had to have close to 200 posts in the last two days.

Rarely anymore. I was on here quite a bit over the last year, but the place wore on me. I usually check in once every few days but rarely engage anymore.

Are you sure it's not because you went into isolation and hiding after Obama won?

I check MR everyday, and it's turning into the first site I check regularly every time I log on. I don't stay on the computer for too long, unless I have major downtime. MR is the site that I check more often over the course of the day. I'd say 15 min each log in and I stop at least 3 times a day.

Sometimes it's 3 min, sometimes it's 20 min, sometimes a brief check and out the door. But the main draw is that, once you make friendships with certain people it's like a keeping in touch thing and on top of it good discussion on certain subjects and participation.

LOL - sometimes I get on here and tell myself I'll just spend 5 minutes checking topics and then an hour later I'm like WTF happened?!?

Too much time. Thankfully it's mostly during work, which for me is most of my day anyway (usually starting a little before 9AM to around 7PM). I have a lot of "hurry up and wait" stuff going on with my one monitor and just leave the other monitor open for MR and the web.

Jeb is a good guy. Great governor of Florida. Many, many, many democrats in Florida love him. It might be more that many are nutso to see the face of another Bush in your avatar, not Republican.

But I love George H.W. Bush and Jeb Bush. George W., uh, not so much.

I’m barely out of my twenties. I’m young & I need a lot of variety & stimuli. As one who admits to having a little ADHD, I need to bounce around to a lot of different topics. MR provides the variety I need. I’m a former member of another website that self-destructed & even though I enjoyed posting on that site, it was just a single thread, not much variety. If you weren’t interested in what was being discussed at that moment, you either had to gently (or not so gently) nudge the thread into a different direction, or else wait it out till someone else did. MR is not that way. If you grow tired of a particular topic or just need a change of scenery, you simply open up a different thread, or start one of your own. There’s plenty of Journey information to be found here, but also enough Off Topic items to keep everyone’s interest.

As for the logging on at work thing..... yes, I’m guilty of that too, but my boss is cool with it. Depending on which job I’m working, I have varying amounts of down time. If I’m dancing, I can post between sets. It passes time. After all, I am at work at those moments & so it’s not like I can jump on my motorcycle or gather some friends & go to the beach. While at work, my options are limited so I surf MR to pass the time with entertainment.

Not necessarily. It's just that nobody sends me any comments that say, "I bet you like sleeping with women, you freak!!!" Hetero post don't ever come my way on this site. Only the homophobe ones do, & so those are the only ones I'm able to comment on.

As I said in my first post of this thread, I'm barely out of my twenties. What man my age doesn't think of sex 24/7? I hope you were joking with that wink, Angel. Please tell me you're not really that naive. There's a common myth that gay & bisexual men will screw anything that breathes. Not true. That's just some fantasy straight, bi-curious guys like to wank to.
