Did Eddie or Aerosmith take a risk, giving the illusion of selling out for money and betraying their rock roots or was it a brilliant move to mesh the different music genres together?

Did EVH even ever get paid for Beat It? I thought I heard he really didn't think much of it at the time it did it. Like it was just a little one-off throw away type thing.

Either way, brilliance in both cases. Great risks, great rewards... :wink:
