Michael's most powerful song to me was...

"Man In The Mirror". To me, this is one of the best, most self searching songs he's ever written. I look at this video after all these years, and it just amazes me what he accomplished! I can't say he was a saint, because I really don't know how he lived his life. I CAN say that he loved children, AND mankind though, and I think he had a very positive effect on people because of songs like this.

Even if he was a corrupt, terrible person (which I've seen NO evidence to support)... you can't tell me that he didn't make at least one person look at his life after seeing something like this, and make himself be a better person.

I will miss Michael, and as I told my wife tonight (and she agreed....we would have paid $300 per ticket to see him if he came here), that we have missed out on seeing one of the greatest performers of all time, and DEFINITELY the greatest performer that was alive today.

I will never forget him, and it just sickens me to see what happened with his life. Very sad, and I hope he's found some peace. God bless Michael.

Like everyone else that was alive, I became a big fan when he came into his own, going solo with Off the Wall ... then Thriller. Lots of great songs (can't name just one)... great melodies. Thriller probably was the best .. and that ballad (something about losing a girl) from OTW was his breakthrough as a mature singer. Truly one of a kind -- his dance moves and stage performances. What soured me was the later years ... changes in his facial appearances ... revelations about what a dysfunctional family the Jacksons were. I know ... it's rocknroll ... musicians are no saints. I felt sorry for Michael more than anything else. It was obvious ... Michael was a tortured soul (Daryl Hall said it best) . I think he was damaged from the getgo ... growing up with the life experiences he did, having a sadistic tyrant for a father who beat his boys and treated them like his meal ticket. I don't know how Joe Jackson can live with himself all these years.

yes, that's it! She's Out of My Life ... great, great song. I would say it was his "coming out" song == the little kid from the Jackson 5 is now a grown-up.

This song says it all to me, about Michael. Sad what his dad put him through. No wonder he loved being around children, he never got to be. And what a voice the man had as a child and as an adult.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rTnuNRh6_k

And before anyone brings the pedophile garbage, get some proof or shut up. One family accepted money, which any real parent would NEVER do if someone violated their child and the next fraud mother had tried to sue people for money SEVERAL times over scams that she set up. Yea, two real believable cases there

It's too bad that after his death people finally try to understand him. Parents leave a mental imprint on their kids and not everyone is equipped to overcome it. For some it becomes a theater, later played out. No, I dont believe Michael was a pedo, I, like you believe that he tried to give kids something he never got.....and was fucked out of by Joe the asshole. If anyone ever fucked children, it was Joe Jackson!

There are only two reasons that this piece of shit is still sucking air:
1. Money
2. He is the Patriarch of famous, talented kids

What's most troubling to me is that this whole saga of abuse has been known about for years......but, yet it went on with impunity.

Absolutely. Was Michael putting himself in bad situations being around so many children? Well, yes, because he failed to realize that there are scumbag people who would use their own freaking child as a pawn in a scheme to bilk money out of a billionare who has too much trust. Sure as hell doesn't mean he was guilty of anything other than being too trusting of bad people.

And how about the video of his last rehearsal? The man looked really healthy and could still dance a ton. I think when the tox. reports come back, it's gonna be a mess of a scene. I'll bet all of the enablers who were helping Michael "medicate" and were afraid to try and stop it because of the money they were making off of it, will be really nervous.

Sad, sad stuff.

Oh, this thread is going to go downhill, unfortunately, because comments and strong opinions are being made re other things than the song choice that has left the door wide open for debate again.

I pick She's Out Of My Life. I love that song.

And re his song that I love the most to video is Billie Jean. I loved the power of that song and the video was fantastic.

Well I pray that if there is a Heaven, Michael and his dad never meet again. Joe missed the bus and the one he will be on goes to the other place. Joe Jackson killed Michael.

The problem is many have a lot to say the other way, which now will come on here. I hope not, because it derails the intent of the thread, just like what you guys did.

But I want to make a comment re settling and not going to trial. I was a court reporter in criminal court and have witnessed what children and teens go through in cross-examination on these cases, much less going up against a celebrity with a high-powered lawyer on the stand. More pedophiles get off than are convicted, especially with the better criminal lawyers, and without a lot of corraborating evidence submitted, eyewitnesses. And I've seen the evidence that can't be introduced for one reason or another in these cases that the jury can't see and you can't believe they got off. If your son wasn't anally raped but sodomized, maybe you make a judgment call to not put him through something if you think emotionally he can't deal with it and accept settlement civilly. I'm only addressing that one part when it was said any parent would go to trial, not whether the charges are true or if in this case that was the motivating reason.

Yeah, this celebrity death saddens me more than any I can remember. Even John Lennon.

My favorite MJ song is Rock With You, off the near perfect album Off the Wall. I am not a huge fan of anything after Thriller, but I like Leave Me Alone.

You Are Not Alone, the first song to ever debut at #1, was a really great song. Dirty Diana had some cool riffs and was a great vocal. Fuck, just about everything this guy did was incredible!

Man In The Mirror was certainly powerful. While I'm waiting for Bad and HIStory to ship to me (backordered until July 22nd) I've been spinning Thriller and Dangerous non-stop. It is so amazing how he could communicate certain aspects of humanity in each facet of song.

There is one track from Blood On The Dancefloor that gives me chills. I can't remember the name, but the video was black and white with rain and such.

Earth Song, Who Is It, Man In The Mirror, Leave Me Alone, Dirty Diana, Human Nature, Will You Be There, Scream, even back to Never Can Say Goodbye.

No one will ever compare.

I ditto you Dan :P Really though, "You are Not Alone" is one of my favorites, and I also think that "She's out of my Life" is very powerful emotionally too. But there is SOMETHING about Dirty Diana that I find powerful too. I love the riffs and sounds in that song too. It's one of my favorite videos because it is powerful.

I keep going back to "Will You Be There" (from Dangerous and also the soundtrack of Free Willy). Amazing stuff.

I wouldn't call "Smooth Criminal" powerful, but the video is superior to most in his body of work (except for the obvious, "Thriller"). The choreography and especially that white outfit... seriously cool shit right there!! :D

I stand corrected. I meant "Sang", because I don't think he really wrote many songs at all on his own (if any). It is a very cool song, and to me is one of the best written out there.
