Steve McNair found dead..

There is a serial killer on the loose North of South Carolina. He already killed 4 people, and just killed two more. One of those people, was Former Tennessee Titans/Baltimore quarterback, Steve McNair. I'm devastated by this. He just retired from the league last year. Reports are that it was a fatal gun shot wound.

Sympathy to the McNair family, as well as the NFL family.

I'm confused. The seriel killer is in South Carolina & Steve McNair was in Tennessee. How are the two stories related? I heard the serial killer is north of South Carolina so that led me to believe that Tennessee must be right above South Carolina, but obviously it isn't b/c North Carolina is. Tennessee is northwest of South Carolina. I'm confused. How are the two stories related?

Still, sad news indeed. My heart goes out to all of the families involved. Steve McNair was too, too young to die.

Devistating. I've been a fan of Steve's since he was at Alcorn State, and I was thrilled when he came to the Oilers/Titans. Such a senseless tragedy.

i'm in my mid thirties and growing up here in tennessee without a pro football team was tough so i always rooted for the pittsburgh steelers.unfortunately it was during the mediocre mark malone/louis lipps era in the eighties when the team was coming down from the championship years of the seventies.imagine how happy i was when i found out tennessee was getting a new team with a new name even if it was a team that moved from somewhere else.i have watched every single titans game since the first one in 1999 when tennessee beat cincinnati by one point and that very first season spoiled us because air mcnair and eddie george led us to a super bowl.mcnair always played no matter how hurt he was and for that he will always be a warrior in age of largely prima donna athletes.this man played with cracked ribs,seperated shoulders,broke fingers,you name it.i hope the titans dedicate the 2009 season to him in his memory.

rick i'm hoping they'll dedicate the 2009 season to steve but we will have to wait and see first what the circumstances were with his death.hopefully there wasn't foul play or anything off that nature.

This really sucks. I liked that dude a lot even if he did make one of the worst blunders in Super Bowl history. And I don't give a fuck what the circumstances were. Someone put a fucking bullet in the man's head. He was a warrior and a helluva football player. He was a good man.

No it's not. Think back a few years ago, there was this guy named Andrew Cunanan and he was a San Diego player who was quite the gay socialite. He got in so good with certain people that he was able to take out Gianni Versace in Miami on the steps of his Versace's own mansion. He also took out Lee Miglin a prominent Chicago Developer.

To talk a little bit about Steve McNair, the football player a bit.. he was a Steelers killer. I, for one, would dread playing Tennessee back in the AFC Central days, hoping McNair would pull a groin during practice so he wouldn't be on the game day roster that day. It REALLY didn't matter if he did anyway, because the man played with broken bones, ribs, head, neck, and so on. He was one of a kind and even though he beat Pittsburgh TIME AND TIME AGAIN, he did it with grace, and was one of the most respected players I've ever respected. Steve McNair is what you want want in a football player. He was a coach's player that's for sure.

He was a great guy also. Always respectful, and carried himself the right way on, and off the field. A true stand up guy who gave it his all no matter what. This, AGAIN, is a sad day in sports history.

the 2002 AFC playoff game with the titans and steelers was a close thriller.these two teams have had some great matchups through the years.imagine if we still had the old AFC central.our two teams always play physical so those would always be close hard fought games.

I'm not sure where the whole "serial killer" stuff is coming from. Just as I predicted that Brad Delp's death would be declared a suicide (and was criticized on this board for daring to say such a thing, before it was actually confirmed to be a sucicide), I am quite sure that this will ultimately be a murder/suicide, with McNair being the victim. Nashville Police have already publically stated that they're not looking for anyone (i.e. a killer) and there would be ZERO reason not to be looking for someone if they haven't already made a determination that the person who committed this crime is dead! Also, there are reports that the murder weapon was found beneath the body of the female who was found deceased. McNair had "several gunshots", and she had one gunshot. It's not difficult to connect the dots. This woman was driving a 2007 Cadillac Escalade that was registered in both her name and McNair's name. There was obviously a relationship there, even though she was all of 20 years old.

On a football note, I thought McNair was a very good QB and tough as nails. Hopefully the NFL doesn't turn him into a Hall of Famer, because of this tragedy, because it simply wouldn't be warranted. As I said, I loved the guy as a player. Guys like Mike Vick could have learned a whole lot from a guy like McNair. McNair didn't get anywhere near the publicity that Vick got, but he was a FAR better player. May he rest in peace.

I think it will be ruled a murder-suicide too, but there is a jealous ex-boyfriend plus this bizarre story:

As a haze of confusion continues to permeate the circumstances surrounding the death of former NFL quarterback Steve McNair, a bizarre report has surfaced.

Per Ken Whitehouse of NashvillePost.com and the Nashville City Paper, McNair's murder was preceded by a warning that he would be killed.

Citing unnamed sources, Whitehouse reports that McNair was at the Blue Moon Restaurant near the John C. Tune Airport at 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning. A white woman in her early 20s approached McNair, accused him of slipping her a "roofie" a year ago, and said that her boyfriend was going to kill him.

As Whitehouse points out, "roofie" is short for Rohpynol, a potent sedative often used in date rape.

Whitehouse writes that the information has been shared with the Metro Police Department. If the threat indeed was made, it might turn out to be nothing other than a morbid coincidence.

The serial killer story was actually a mix up, and false story reporting the two stories. There is actually indeed a serial killer on the loose in SC, but there was a mix up at first report of Steve McNair being involved with that, but the mix-up was fixed and it's two different deaths.

Interesting development with this girls boyfriend and the roofie incident. This is either a coincidence, or something is seriously messed up here. It just keeps getting worse and worse.

We were downtown Nashville yesterday when all that was going on. It's strange how quiet they're being about the relationship between McNair and the girl and apparently he had multiple gun shot wounds, she only had one. He was a hero in Nashville and most people are taking it pretty hard.

I dunno ya'll. This sounds pretty much cut and dried to me. I think it's pretty clearly a murder suicide. And already I'm hearing jackasses on facebook start up there "He was committing adultery- he got what he deserved" shit. Man, that chaps my balls. Dan's right- a great football player and an (overall) good YOUNG man was shot. For whatever reason, it's a damned tragedy.

Unfortunately, it's beginning to look more and more like a murder suicide. I'm thinking an affair gone terribly wrong. McNair was in his condo, sitting on his couch and shot multiple times. The 20 year old woman he was with was shot only once and the gun found under or near her body. Police have stated they are not looking for any suspects. Witnesses reported McNair visited the woman's apartment several times a week and was seen so often that neighbors thought he had moved in. The young woman was driving a 2007 Cadallic Escalade registered in both their names. Two days before they were stopped at 2:00 am by the police and she was stopped for drunken driving. McNair a passenger in the SUV was released. Perhaps he was afraid that the publicity surrounding the arrest would cause the affair to come out and wanted to end it so she killed him? Just a thought...

At any rate I feel sorry for his wife, children, family and friends.
