Elton & 1976

I think it was the bi-centennial yr and he made the cover of Time mag dressed as the Statue of Liberty. When we saw him in Cincinnati he wore a huge strawberry. Klinger dressed that way in a Mash episode. Would anyone have a vid of Elton or a pic? There was not much tech back then,but I thought I would try. It was a great concert except for all the burning rope.

Gunbot- the costume was all silver and flowing robes and he even had a silver tourch. The outfit you put up is a dandy also. He looked quite normal in 1970 when we 1st heard Your Song. By '73 he made Liberace look normal.

JasonD that is it ! Thanks for your time. Stevew2- you are always on Cain so I think you pretty much have told who you are. I don't care about who is gay or not. It is the talent that counts and sells $$$$$$. I would hate to lose Elton's music,along with George Michael, Freddy Mercury and now Adam Lambert. You are either a kid ,silly or a flat out homophobe. Sad.

And Cain is not even gay, not that it would matter to me if he was. I agree....I care about the music, not the sexual orientation of the artist. Elton John has turned out some fine work that will live longer than all of us.

You're quite welcome, squirt1, but I didn't really invest a lot of time in finding that pic. It was just a simple Google search.

I’d also like to thank you for support on the gay comment issue, but it wasn’t really necessary. Let me explain. When I first came to Melodicrock I was bashed around by a few people. Some of what was said I may have provoked by putting myself “out there” too much, but some was purely hateful. It's not always easy to tell who's being serious from who's being silly, & so stevew2 was one of the people I wasn't sure about. Well, it didn't take long before I started getting Private Messages from various members of this site, each in support of stevew2 & letting me know he means no harm & wanting to make sure I didn't take his gay comments seriously. Everyone who has PM’d me has stated that he’s a “cool guy” who likes to joke around a lot. Because of that, I’m not offended by his humor. In fact, we’ve developed this kind of weird camaraderie where he picks on me & I tease him right back. Therefore, unless he suddenly turns true-blue homophobe & causes me to rethink my perception, I’m going to listen to his PM fan base & trust that he’s only joking. Peace.
