OT: Brian May Furious Over MJ Demos on YouTube

Postby Voyager » Thu Jul 09, 2009 3:33 am

Brian seems to be getting a lot of press these days.

BRIAN MAY FURIOUS OVER FREDDIE MERCURY AND MICHAEL JACKSON DEMOS ON YOU TUBE

7/8/2009

Brian May is up in arms over some die-hard fans who've posted homemade videos to Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson's unreleased early-'80s tracks on YouTube.com. Musicradar.com reported that May is "furious" with the leak of two demos that Mercury and Jackson worked on together in the early '80s. The tracks include the pair tackling an early version of the Jacksons/Mick Jagger duet of "State Of Shock" and presumably a Mercury original called "There Must Be More To Life Than This."

May, who's obviously unaware that these tunes have not only been bootlegged but been up on You Tube for years, called the posters "music thieves," and said, "(Michael Jackson) used to come and see us when we were on tour in the States. He and Freddie became close friends, close enough to record a couple of tracks together at Michael's house, tracks which have never seen the light of day."

Brian May seems like a real fucking cry baby and an all around douchebag. He's always whining about something.

How does Queen continue to fill Stadiums around Europe and South America? I can only listen to about a half dozen of their songs. I obviously missed something that everyone else was hearing .

I'll take Def Leppard FTW.

I think Freddie Mercury had an amazing voice, but I also think their catalog is "good" at best, and that it has some really stupid/strange songs.

I have both of these and though I am a huge Freddy fan and a Michael Jackson fan, they are not good. State of Shock is just plain horrible.

Except DL sounds the same on every song.

I'd take Queen 'cause they don't.

Who's Freddy? :P

These demos reportedly came from Freddie's P.A. Peter Freestone. I love Brian but I disagree with him on the subject of bootlegs. I don't think they pose a threat to any artist simply because if there are no plans to release them, the artist isn't losing any money.

I love both the demos and I think they deserve to be heard, as does, apparently, Peter Freestone.

Go Phoebe.

This is truth. And I can listen to almost all of Queen's albums all the way through and never get bored or tired of listening...can't say the same for Def Lep...but I still like them .

here's a difference between Queen and Leppard

Queen has about 5-6 GREAT songs and about 233 CRAPPY songs.
Def Leppard has about 100 good songs, which they may sound a like, but that in itself its an accomplishment cause they have created their own sound.

Yea - And Queen didn't have their own sound? :) Def Leppard created their own sound and then used it on every single song.

For the fellows, you need to experience Def Leppard in the right Environment. Preferably a bar, with two bikini clad ladies on each side of a 20 foot video screen, playing the video "Pour Some Sugar On Me".

This happened while I was in the Philippines and the next video played was Blame It On the Rain. Deano would probably see the irony in that.

I think those "stupid/strange" songs probably add to their appeal to many because it shows an amazing range and depth. When the lyrics ar stupid it seems the arrangements are dramatic or complex. When they were "pop" they had amazing hooks. So many different pieces to their puzzle and Freddie was the glue.

Brian May, as well as anyone else that wants to freakout over YouTube, needs to shut up and relax a minute. YouTube is not a new thing and the fact that boots get out and are posted is not new either. It happens and that's just the way it is.

you're joking, right? Every song of Leps sounds like the last. Queen were pretty darned versatile.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Queen is one of them most well known bands around the world. The run of albums they had from A Night at the Opera through The Game was amazing. There wasn't a single bad song on those albums. Leppard on the other hand hasn't made an album that can say that.

Def Leppard doesn't have their own sound, they've been trying to be Queen since "Hysteria".

The reason why they failed at that attempt is due to the fact that Joe Elliot's voice sucks. No matter
how many vocal overdubs he sings it's not going to make him a good vocalist.
