Songs Journey should retire from the setlist

When I saw the ho getting boned in Heavy Metal to this song I was like, not bad. When it hit Last American Virgin later that year, I was like, okay this is getting gay. When we were subjected to all those butchered karaoke duets from Youtube last year, that was the final straw. This song just needs to be put down like an old dog already.
LTS
This song should have been retired when Gregg left the band. I'm sorry but Jon doesn't have one ounce of blues in him. Put the harp and organ away and get back behind the whale. The Blues and Sam Cooke being played by this current lineup doesn't mix at all. Knock it off already.
After All These Years
A new song that got old real fast. Kenny Rogers did it first and he did it better and he's from Texas. Arnel and the gang are as far removed from being cowboys as I from being able to moonwalk. Put the shit kickers back in the closet. Give the song to Nashville and forget about it.
What do you guys want to see kicked from the setlist?

It means whether he likes it or not, he's a fucking cowboy. And he's from Houston to boot. There ain't no Cowboys coming out of San Francico or the Philippines. If there are, they ain't legit no how. Just because Cain lived in Nashville for awhile don't make it so.

They overplayed this so much when it came out, I used to feel the same way. I think what changed my mind towards it was realizing that if you took it as a ballad instead of a rock song, the bitterness and feeling of hurt it portays is a refreshing change from the sappy comtent of Open Arms and Faithfully. They don't tend to play it much anymore from what I've seen so it is pretty dang close to being retired either way.

I haven't been to a show since the tour w/JSS so I wasn't sure if they still played it...
Anyone have a good list of the sets they played in Europe?
I hope they are keeping tracks like Chain Reaction, EOTB and Rubicon in there.
I also hope they stay away from ANYTHING on
Generations.
(FITH doesn't count, it can stay since Arnel did a FINE job on it
for Revelation and it makes a good opener.)

Neal's solo at the end of the song is worth sitting through it, but I can't believe they are playing LTS when they have so many great songs in their catalogue to choose from that are better. They never toured after TBF, so there is a goldmine of material there and no live performance comparisons to SP. And if I'm not mistaken, they are in a lower key than the earlier material and would not be so taxing on Arnel's voice. If they are still playing 'Lights' in concert, they may want to reconsider that one too.

Fix that shit. Kenny Rogers never sang Alter All Your Cats And Dogs

After All These Years, is one of the worst Journey songs I have ever heard, it's on even par with "All The Way" "Butterfly". Drop it, dump it, just get rid of it.

My choices are
Be Good to Yourself - I don't buy that song from anyone else other than Perry......it was his anthem
Open Arms - it's just over played IMO
LTS - another one that I would want to see Perry sing again....but enough already....it's had it's day in the sun
Mother Father......I love Deen and his version but......you know what I am going to say anyway.
and this is a question....
how many songs off Arrival do they do now??? I have not seen many you tubes of songs from that CD...there are some good songs there...or are they only sticking to the older stuff wtih Perry and the new stuff? and if so why?

Absolutely not -- not at least until they play it at any show I go to.

Seen them several times in the past few years and haven't heard it once.

True! I really don't buy anything post Perry, honestly speaking, my heart has never been into Journey after Perry left, because the "other guys" just don't touch your heart, mind, or whatever you call it - not like Perry. They just sing the songs like anyone else would, to sound like the Steve Perry.

And not everyone gets that.....but
I do as well.....although I do like SA on some of the Arrival songs and I would go see him in concert.....but I would want to hear the Arrival songs and other original stuff from him...not the Perry/Journey cover band routine.

I don't think he did. Kenny Rogers has a song called Through the Years and one called After All This Time but they aren't the same song as AATY.
I love Kenny Rogers, I wish he WOULD do AATY!

The way I read it, and correct me if I'm mistaken, Gunby, but I think he meant Kenny Rogers covered the basic idea of it already, not that he actually sang the same song.
I'm pretty predictable on this answer, but they need to stop stepping all over Stone In Love and smashing and squooshing the chocolatey goodness out of it. Makes me cringe. I probably wouldn't notice or mind if they kicked Open Arms to the curb in it's bathrobe and flip-flops, either.

even though most of the people who go to the shows might only be familiar with the greatest hits aspect of the band it would be cool if each tour they would throw in a couple songs for the diehards that they don't normally play.maybe they could do line of fire, people and places, patiently or maybe rubicon.

Bear with me here... but I choose "Don't Stop Believin'".
Yes, I realize what I'm saying. I, personally, wouldn't mind a bit if I never heard that song again. And I'm interested to see what would happen to the crowds if they 86'ed it from the setlist.

They wouldn't return next time, that's what.

They're there to hear DSB, Separate Ways, Lights, etc... they could drop ALL the Revelation songs and no one except posters on MR and JourneyMusic would notice
or care.

Open Arms sounds much better this year re-tooled, otherwise I'd say axe it (if they could get away with it)
Trial by Fire is pointless (and to a lesser extent the Augeri stuff too). While I like it, nobody knows it and its not the current singer's stuff.

DING DING
I didn't want to have to spell it out but I should have remembered that a lot of people weren't around when every second song on the radio was a Kenny Rogers song and Through The Years, Coward Of The County, Lady and a bunch of others were sitting near the top of the charts burrowing their were into our subconscious. The same thing probably happened to Cain, now that I think of it. Hear something in your head and not know if it's your idea or coming from somewhere else.
