OT: Mac Users/Video Editors?

So, I finally figured out the trick to downloading videos off YouTube using the Safari activity function. It automatically saves them to .flv files... I was wondering if anyone knew the best program to use for piecing parts together? (Its a 10 part video.)

Encore?
Toast?
AfterEffects?
PremierePro?

I have the Adobe CS4 Master Collection and Toast Titanium. I know I need to convert to .avi files to get them to play in a DVD player, and I can design my own menu with an auto run. Just need to know how to glue the puzzle together.

Any advice?

Souinds like QuickTime PRO or DVision 3 will do this easily.

Thanks, but I don't want to download some freeware when I have all the software that professional editors use. I just wonder which one that I have would be better out of Toast or any of the CS4 programs.

I don't use a Mac so I've no clue. I have the PC version of Adobe Master Collection but I only use it for animating videos and silly stuff like that.

Is that a program or are you calling me that?
I'm not an elitist, this is my work computer I'm doing all this on and I'm under orders that I can use it for anything I'd like, but I can't install any programs.

Is it a MacBook? I'm so sick of having to use XP again at work. I fuckin came in and unlocked my comp from the night before to find IE had literally crashed while the computer was locked... unbelievable. Not to mention it takes 12 minutes to start and log in in the morning. You're lucky you get to use that shit at work.

Its a MacBook Pro. I couldn't get by on Windows with what I have to do. But apart from that my boss is one of those Apple geeks. The only PC in the building is the one in the backroom we use for UPS and packing slips.

My buddy works for Disney Internet group. They give you a company issue Laptop with duel boot, OS10? and Windows XP. Best to have both worlds available, I guess.

I just bought myself one of the new ones. Kinda wanted an iMac but I need the portability for now...

So nice to have a new one, my other one got the piss beat out of it, barely ran any more.

Flash and Premier depending on what I am doing. Premiere may be able to do what you want, using elements and the instant movie feature. I'm not sure though, I just do everything on the fly half the time using my son as a coach when I get stuck.

That's not really XP's fault... there are plenty of alternate stable browsers you can try. As for it booting up slow, not necessarily the fault of the OS either.

Just sayin'.

True true, but it's guilt by association for me. Plus, IE *is* XP's browser, so... it still kinda is XP's fault ;)

But hey, it ain't Vista, it's got that goin for it. If the buzz about Windows 7 is to be believed, it sounds like MS has finally fixed a few things... I'm curious to check it out. I'm not one of those annoying Mac people that has to shove the fact that I own one down your throat at every chance... but this IS a Mac thread :)

ELITIST!

Well, I had to download a plug-in to convert the .flv files to DV. But I did, and I have it playing in a standalone player on the TV, and other than slight pan and scan pixelation it turned out great! I used Toast to put it together. Kinda awesome. I'm totally digging being able to have a DVD of all this rare stuff that's never been on DVD (but somehow made it to YouTube). 8)

OuickTime Pro is not freeware and will work for what you want to do. It is Apple software.

For some reason I couldn't get Perian to work though, Quicktime was useless until I could convert the .flv files. Unless I was just doing it wrong.

Here you go.. First download "MPEG Streamclip" to convert your .FLV files into .AVI or QuickTime then use TOAST to combine them. Put them in toast in order then check the box for "Play All Items Continuously" that should do it for you. If you want to actually edit the clips once they are converted use I-Movie, that should have come with your mack.

Hope this helps

MPEG Streamclip was the converter program I ended up using. I did put them together in Toast. I think I will take your advice about iMovie though, since the scenes need refining where the clips don't sync up perfectly. Much appreciated, V.
