Hey, there -

I was given this by Arnel's brother Erik to post here. Arnel was really touched that MelodicRock awarded him 2008 Vocalist of the Year and wanted to express his personal thanks to Andrew.

Dear Friends,

It is with great pride that I thank the people from MelodicRock for counting me in as one of the best – a distinction that used to dwell only in my dreams. This honour only serves as further inspiration for me to better my craft and do my best in suiting up of for one of the best jobs in the world. Journey’s new American tour is just around the bend and it is my prayer that the support that we enjoyed last year will still meet the boys when we take on the stage.

Thank you so much, Andrew for believing and more thanks to the people who support both Journey and MR! See you all on the road!

I wonder if Arnel called "The Dickhead Of The Year" and congratulated him. But in all honesty, that was pretty cool of him. Congrats, Andrew. You deserve the recognition and shout out.

That's the first I've heard Arnel speak of this place. Very cool. I'm glad he got that nod from Andrew.

I wonder how long it'll take before someone says something negative about Pineda.

Good Job, Andrew. :)

Direct from Tito, "Andrew, this seems like an olive branch being extended from the Journey camp. Don't blow it this time. And following in the tradition and example set by Jon Cain and Neal Schon, Arnel Pineda is a good person."

Well deserved. Indeed the best pipes of all the melodic rock vocalists who were featured on new album releases in 2008.

I agree. Frankly, I am a little bit shock at the same time excited. Yeah, that was very cool.

Props to Arnel and Wombat. :D

Arnel was easily the hardest-working singer on the road in 2008. We watched him go from a cover-band singer to an international superstar. What a ride for him! He deserves the award.

Thanks for passing Arnel's message on Rip. That was great.

Congratulations to Arnel! All the best to Journey for the second half of the tour. Rock on.

I'm gettin all tingly. This makes me feel good all over. Yes, I'm proud of Arnel. I know this wasn't easy for him, for the reasons that Andrew stated when considering him for the award. There have been obstacles overcome that many of us take for granted. Frankly, although I'm impressed with Arnel's singing abilities, I'm more impressed by the kind of person he is and has remained thru it all. I've never seen or heard him say an unkind word about anyone...even though there have been lots of them hurtled at him. This award is well deserved. Rock on!

And thanks for pruning this thread, Andrew. It had a couple weeds in it.

Nice...
The Revelation album and moments
like this make me wonder why I ever
doubted Arnel at the beginning

I agree completely. When I was in Manila, I was quoted after the concert for one of the newspapers, referring to him as a "double-underdog success story" for the challenges he faced both with filling the shoes needed by the job and also proving himself to a divided fanbase.

Arnel's going to kick major ass on this tour.

Hopefully, he received my Terrible Towel in Chicago!
