And this deserved a new thread, as opposed to posting in the two other SP interview threads?

BTW, I don't think I've ever met someone on this board that is still green after almost 2 years here.

Holy lurker, Batman!

I agree Kelley, using the same line after every interview intro SP does smacks of false modesty to me. He needs to get a new writer. As much as I like DSB, I'm also really tired of all the hoopla regarding the popularity of the song. How about an interview with some real meat to it like GQ article for example. But I guess if you're doing nothing, there's not much to talk about.

That was kind of an Old 80's joke, Steve is old school. Not a comedian...........but he can crack me up easily. Let him tell the joke about how he busted his head on the dash when he was 3.........cutest story! Or the story about the guy who ate vicks vapor rub..............  His reaction to that was priceless!  I guess what do you say with a build up like the one he received? I bet he doesn't think that highly of himself. I am sure he realizes what a great talent he has, but he has always struck me as embarassed when people lay it on thick. :D

It is funny how he is the one always being grilled about that song instead of the band.

I agree, I think also that he doesn't think very highly of himself. I also think he is very shy when not on stage performing. He's tries to be very gracious when people compliment him. He can say whatever he wants, I'll listen. :P

Exactly, I always get that feeling as well. And, how he always wears his heart on his sleeve ... the vulnerability (as discussed in another thread) ... it's a very endearing trait.

That's when he gets the crowd chanting near the end of the song. People saying he doesn't have stage presence have obviously never seen an un-edited concert with him.

It did?
Before or after Revelation doubled FTLOSM's sales?

Thanks, Madsplash, that was my first thought when I read this.

Additionally, though, I don't see any of the others getting out the past either. Everyone always speaks about Journey preserving their "legacy". They are doing that. And.... their legacy just happens to be with Steve Perry.

New disc vs. new disc, it didn't. Half a million to half a million. FTLOSM would have gone platinum too if he had released one disc of remakes and counted BOTH of them, and released a live DVD. Get that argument out.

And how did the 3 albums before Revelation do? Did they even total 200,000 combined?

Most all of the million sold of Revelation can be attributed to Steve Perry. Deal with it.

He can't get out of the past and happily perpetuates the myth that the band discontinued when he clocked out and so there is nothing left to speak about but the old hits.

Explain.

So...wouldn't that make you the one who always deflects to the past???

Yes, when it's convenient for him to do so.

Before or after Revelation doubled FTLOSM's sales?

New disc vs. new disc, it didn't. Half a million to half a million. FTLOSM would have gone platinum too if he had released one disc of remakes and counted BOTH of them, and released a live DVD. Get that argument out.

And how did the 3 albums before Revelation do? Did they even total 200,000 combined?

So sad the way you have to tear down any accomplishment of Journey without Perry by saying most all of the million sold is due to him just to elevate Perry. What a silly remark. Perry doesn't need you dissing Journey to elevate him. If you had any balance in that statement people might respect your opinion. You sound so pathetic in your bitterness. I just don't get it.
