This Is Off Topic (unlike all the other threads that stay totally ON topic)

Forbes Magazine released their 2009 list of America's most dangerous cities to live in.

Hey, Detroit is #1!

I feel so special now.

i live in memphis.very poor place and extremely violent.here recently a crowd of forty people watched a person get stabbed and no one did a thing.i stay indoors.here recently my neighbor was on crimestoppers most wanted and i turned the person in.didn't like 'em plus i was broke so it was a win win situation.this city is unlike any in america and thats no lie.every week or so we have a special on fox network news called memphis in black and white dealing with race issues.forty years after kings death we still have racial stuff here all the time.most polarized place i've ever lived.the police are complete joke too.last year we had a gunman here and it took the law over an hour to arrive after repeated 911 calls.

Yes, Ging. Memphis IS number two.

Anyway, I guess this kinda explains why I joke around a lot. It's how I survive in this "Warriors..... come out & play" environment. Detroit is a bad ass town. Try being a non-straight guy living in the baddest "MF-ing" city in America. Oh, the stories I could tell. :!:

(Okay, enuff of that. I'm depressing myself.)

I likes it! :D The mosquito is to be feared here..............state bird ya know!

willie herenton.racist mayor if ever was one.he is the reason memphis went downhill.this man said on live television if the white people don't like it here they can leave.last year he resigned and then when it got near time for him to leave he decided to stay.well again this year he resigned again and july 30th is supposed to be his last day but i think he is toying with not leaving again.i've often thought of moving over there to arkansas at some point with my family.love the dog track over there and you guys have a lottery starting in november

The whole racial thing is so sad though, I love my students equally regardless of race, I think different cultures adds to the richness of this country. Hold babies of different races in your hands, they are all just as sweet as the next, cute, tiny, innocent, and not an ounce of hate because of your difference in color. Good people and bad people exist in all races. The sooner we learn that the better our world will be. Unfortunately some are afraid of anything or anyone "different". We are all human are we not? It is like a yellow rose and a red rose hating each other! Stupid. :x

Seriously people, how about Philadelphia? I use to live on the east coast near Philly and if the smell didn't kill you the guns would. And my old hometown is now a bad place to live, can't go anywhere and not get shot.

our mayor here in memphis has resigned for the second straight summer.last summer he resigned but had a change of heart at the last minute and stayed.well he was supposed to leave in july but when july got here he said to add thirty days until july 30th then he would leave.this man announced his resignation on the day michael jackson passed.when i was growing up back in the 80's memphis used to win the cleanest city awards and wasn't a bad place to live.when this current mayor won office back in 1991 he has done nothing since but pit the whites and blacks against each other and then use that to get the votes needed to stay in office.the FBI has been looking into him for awhile and the people here despise him so much that a local businessman offered him several millions to just go away.the citizens the last couple years having been signing a ballot to have him recalled or kicked out.several millions have just disappeared.a couple years ago the law had a car pulled over with dope in it and the mayor personally called to get the law to let that car go.too many shennanigans.he is 64 years old and got a waitress here pregnant but pays the woman child support.he tells white citizens if they don't like it leave.asked about the crime he said thats not his problem and it can't be solved.

Oh brother!!! Your mayor sounds like a real winner. Looks like Memphis is aiming for that 2010 number one spot. I don't know about you & whether or not you like living there, but I hate living in Detroit. Problem is, my daughter is here, my mom is here, my friends are here & my job is here. The job part ain't no real deciding factor b/c I can find another one elsewhere, but I can't stand to leave my daughter, my mom & my friends. For now I'm kind of stuck here. I guess maybe I could try posting a video of myself on YouTube & pray that Neal might come along & discover me & take me out of this Bruce Springsteen-esq town.

(I'm kidding of course.)

we both are in the same boat on this one.family is the main reason i'm still here.mom, dad, sisters, uncles are all here pretty much in the same neighborhood and its hard to leave once you've been somewhere for a long time.my brother left almost a decade ago and moved to phoenix but the rest of us have stayed because this is home.actually the neighborhood is pretty decent compared to other ones here in this city.

I guess maybe I could trying posting a video of myself on YouTube & pray that Neal might come along & discover me & take me out of this Bruce Springsteen-esq town.

Well, yeah, a lifetime spent in one location does have its advantages. You kind of pay your dues & earn your stripes as the years go by so nobody messes with you after a while. It’s sorta like living on the mean streets of Melodicrock.

You need a big well hung buck,a 400 pound gangsta looking dud, you could be his bitch,he could take of you, then you aint got to worry, you just might walk funny for awhile

This Is Off Topic (unlike all the other threads that stay totally ON topic)

Forbes Magazine released their 2009 list of America's most dangerous cities to live in.

Hey, Detroit is #1!

I feel so special now.
