Top Five Bass Players

Postby Deb » Mon Jul 27, 2009 4:55 am

Love bass! When it comes to guitars and bass, my favorites are more based on feel, not who is technically better. Same as my fav vocalists. :)

Rudy Sarzo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM7P6uYRyFI

Billy Sheehan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lopEivpvqek

Marcel Jacob http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLe8FrAuqyI

Marco Mendoza http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9Qj2r6cmzY

Gary Schutt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2VITGGw-jg (I know he plays guitar too, but I think he rocks the bass)

Kip Winger. I know some of you may laugh, but that man is probably one of the overall greatest musicians out there. You can give him a bass, guitar (acoustic or electric), or keyboards, and he can rock them all! All of that wrapped-up with his vocals and songwriting, and I think he's incredible.

Geddy Lee
Tom Scholz (seriously - he laid down some legendary bass lines on those Boston records)
Paul McCartney (the Hendrix of bass in terms of innovation, imo)
Mike Porcaro
Peter Cetera (overlooked a TON... awesome tone)

Honorable mention to Chris Squire

Wow, a Moody Blues inclusion. Very nice.

I saw them in Thousand Oaks this year. They've got to be on their last legs but Justin knows how to keep from over exerting his voice without taking away from the songs and John along with Graeme Edge are just so steller at their craft.
