TO ALL...............

As you all know, I am an avid fan of Arnel but also a supporter of the current Journey line-up. When I post something, I am not just trying to only promote Arnel but the band as a whole. I want to warn you that you will never see any review about the band that will not have any comparison between Arnel and Perry, or vice-versa. I cannot control what people will say in their reviews and I hope you will understand that.

I want to let you know that I will be posting all the reviews and anything that will promote the current line-up. So if you see a concert thread and you see my name, just say to yourself, “Oh it’s Chubby, so it’s must be her stupid positive review or youtube vids.” So please view my post at your own risk.

My posts are directed to the supporter of the current Journey line-up and have no intention of offending the supporters of the previous line-ups.

Thanks for your understanding. :D

First of all, I thought you were a dude this whole time.

Secondly, refer to this thread:
http://forums.melodicrock.com/phpBB/vie ... hp?t=42773

That was part of my point. Supporting the band should be openly done and one should not have to feel shuttered or risk retaliation in doing so. If someone disagrees they can either not read your posts or if they come and crap in your thread, you just politely tell them to go fuck themselves. Like you, I'm a fan, but I have been for many many years before Arnel. As long as we do not discount the previous lead singers who left the legacy, all shall be fine, with the exception of a few rabid cling-ons.

Somewhere along the beginning of my tenure here I announced that I would not be taking any shit from anyone and that thier post count or time on the board did not automatically earn my respect.

Chubby,

I like all of your post. Keep 'em coming & don't worry about who you (ahem) offend. :D

BTW--- I also thought you were a dude. Now I'm wondering if I may have said something in the past to offend you. I sure hope not. I try to watch my mouth around the ladies.

(Maybe we need a thread where everyone identifies their gender so the guys know when to watch their "P's" & "Q's".) :P

Jason do you really think that would help????I am not so sure myself.

Chubby post away.

Most of the guys here have learned for the most part who the past members are gender wise. The newbies need to announce it when they come in, I now know Chubby is in the ranks with the rest of the females here. I think she announced it earlier. Oh by the way Jason I am a woman........................LOL! Did the name Ginger give it away? Or talking about my husband? Or the lol cats? The cats were for the benifit of Stone Cold and Deano........they just love them ya know.     :P :P And I love giving them a bit of grief! Cause they know I loves them so!

Chubby post away. I love the current Journey, and the past. Be kind to Perry, he is and will always be my favorite lead singer! I also have a great deal of respect for Jon, and Arnel is doing a fine job. No trouble from me! :D

Well, chivalry's not dead in my world. My mom raised me to be respectful towards women & boy if I got outta line I knew it!!! Maybe I was raised old fashioned, but I still believe in holding the door for a lady & offering her your jacket if it's cold outside.

Thanks for the support guys.

Yes, I'm a woman. I did not announce it before because I don't think it should matter, plus you know it's nice to keep some guessing.

Jason, you have never offended me in anyway. I'm a tough cookie (most of the time), I just feel the need to let everyone know what my intentions are, so they know exactly what to expect.

Even if I am very pro current line up, I never personally ridicule any of the previous frontmen (which is the favorite fast time here by some). I thought that since a lot of people here take no offense at the personal insults labeled against Arnel, that these positive reviews are just peanuts.

I chose to fight for this current line-up because they deserve it.

Steve, your thread says it all.

I'm going to work now. Have a nice day everyone.

You will get no such support from me :) and that's not because your a woman, it really doesn't matter. It's simply because your "pro the current lineup", and to me that spells "trouble maker", "uneducated", and "misinformed", and 99% of the time those apparant fans have no idea what they are talking about, because the simply fact "Steve Perry & Journey go hand in hand", both are lost without each other.

But feel to post :) however! when it comes to Journey I really don't take offense to anything you write, because it's probably not very significant anyway!.

PS.
And I have nothing personal against you, sorry please don't think that I hate you, because I don't... it's just when it comes to the music of Journey (eh, well...)

Hey Chubby, thanks for the post. I would like to say three things to you in light of this...

1. I like you.
2. I had no idea you were a female!
3. It's a forum, and you can post anything you like (as long as Andrew doesn't think it's out of line). I like your posts. I just get irritated by a group of supporters that want to get the message out that they think Arnel is better than Perry. I'm not saying that YOU said this, and I know you just posted a positive review.

That's the only thing here that's bothering me. Not you at all. I just wish people out there would respect "The Voice". We wouldn't have Journey without his contributions, and unless some miracle happens, we'll never hear THAT version of Journey again.

Arnel is great (although like I said... his dictation has got to me recently), and I think he's good for Journey. But he is not, nor will he ever be Steve Perry (to me).

Hope I didn't offend you, because like I said... I like you. It is funny after all this time, to find out you're a woman though!

first off there is no comparison. anyone making the mistake of comparing another vocalist singing journey tunes to perry is setting said vocalist up for failure.

it's great that you are an avid fan of arnel. just remember his place in the band and it's history. the previous 30 years have a lot to teach new fans. without the soaring vocals of perry combined with neal's guitar, rolie's keys, steve smith's amazing drum parts, etc... arnel would not have a gig with journey as they would not have built the legacy that they continue to ride on.

What you said is something we all need to remember. I am thankful that the legacy lives on and there is someone truely worthy to still bring us the music that most of so enjoy. There aren't many things more fun than attending a Journey show. As for accent and diction issues, it seems I really only notice it when listening to some YouTube vids. Having seen the band live a couple times, it's not that noticable when you throw in the mix of all the noise the fans make. In my opinion I think the band sounds better this year, as a whole, compared to last year.

My two cents worth is probably worth about that much, but I agree that you should be able to post freely in a "JOURNEY" forum.
Like it or not, Journey is going forward with Arnel. Most of the posts I see on other forums and twitter are positive towards Arnel and the job he is doing.
I have nothing against Arnel, and I actually like his personal story of his shocking rise from his small band to being the frontman to Journey. How could
anyone not like that story? Nevertheless, I believe that Journey's decision to go on without Steve Perry when they did, changed Journey for what it was or will ever be again
to the detriment of JOURNEY. I do not fault the band for trying to pick up the pieces and move on. All good things come to an end. Journey ended when Steve Perry left.
The band is Journey in name only. I wish them the best, but I'll never buy a ticket to see them, as the "current" Journey doesn't interest me mostly because their singer doesn't
move me emotionally. I feel nothing when he sings. It was the voice of Perry that will live forever as JOURNEY. Anything else is something a whole lot less for me.

There is nothing wrong with how you feel. The best course is just to ignore Chubby's threads like she said. Let those who want to partake in those threads have their fun. We have plenty of other topics to follow up on and we can all create our own threads concerning our own interests if we wish. No one has to like Perry or Arnel or Augeri. there are plenty of threads beyond the review threads to express those differing opinions. Obviously we are partial here to Perry based threads (and more and more Foreigner threads it looks like).
It's when people go into another person's thread and try to force what they like on others because their particular thread or subject of interest is being ignored, that's when there is going to be a problem. That's when the thread ninjas tend to come in and take over.

I have no problem with your appreciation for Arnel. It's obvious that you knew nothing of Journey before he joined, so your only association with Journey is the Arnel-fronted version. But you have to realize, this Journey forum has people who have followed Journey for 30 years now - and many of us see any new Journey singer as just another temporary fill-in in a string of Perry impersonators, Arnel included.

I think you have been very respectful with your passion for Arnel and you seem to respect people who are diehard Perry fans. I have no issues with the stuff you post.

I think you have been very respectful with your passion for Arnel and you seem to respect people who are diehard Perry fans. I have no issues with the stuff you post.

Whoa back it up Voy, not all of them were Perry impersonators.

-1

 One of them wasn't.

To me, they all were and are impersonators wnen they sing the Journey hits.

False. Listen to disc 1 of Revelation. Ya can't impersonate something that was never sung by Perry. :P

And you can't call it a Journey hit unless it was sung by Perry. A flash in the pan does not count. Most anything on Arrival is better than Revelation at it's best, imo.

Hits, as in Journey's 18 Top 40 chart riders, which don't include any of the tracks from Disc 1 of Rev, Arrival, Generations, or Red13.
