Pearl Jam have had quite a few "upbeat" songs.. I'm glad they're still going and releasing stuff, as I'm a recently-converted fan. (Thanks to my lovely girlfriend!)

To say Pearl Jam sucks.... is flat-out ignorant.. they're one of the best bands of the past twenty years.

+1 Sadly I have to agree with you. The song isn't very good. Plus I much prefer the angst. I don't listen to Pearl Jam to get happy.

Pull and IV are by far the best Winger albums and may not have come to be if it wasn't for their fall from the charts.

Have to agree with this also. Pearl jam is not supposed to be Upbeat and Happy, Thats what I listen to Journey for.

I have to agree, this is not a good song. I was disappointed with it. I can tell you that I won't be running out to buy it anytime soon.

I voted for the first one, because if I've got to listen to them, I'd prefer an upbeat song. I actually like that one a bit, but I kind of feel the way you do about that genre of music altogether, with a lot less hatred though.

I'd walk straight up to Eddie Vedder and tell him he can't sing one fuckin' note on key. Probably one of the worst talented "singers" on the planet. Sounds like someone is skinning a ferret alive. The dude has ZERO talent in the singing department. The epitomy of TONE DEAF . The only redeeming value he has is that he's a Cubs fan. Pearl Jam music-wise is not too bad, but too bad they have a singer with numb vocal chords.

Sorry, but GRUNGE did not kill "our genre", our "genre" was imploding with stupid lyrics and a tired image and nothing particularly new to offer. It is likely more accurate to say "our genre" led to the creation of of Grunge.

Music is an expression of a generation. The people who grew up in the 80's who listened to melodic rock often don't appreciate the music I grew up with in the late 60's and 70's. Some of the negative comments I've read on MR iconic figures about such as the Beatles and Rolling Stones were stunning to me but after thinking about it not surprising. Kids don't want to listen to the music of their parents. They want their own. If grunge became popular it's because it struck an emotional chord in the listener at that time. Let's face it MR started to become a parody of itself. There were lot's of marginally talented groups out there who had nothing more to offer than big hair and spandex. People were ready for a change. However, the music has and will continue to inspire and influence new artiists. The good stuff will remain, new people will discover it and continue playing it, but sadly it's time has passed.

I always thought I hated this kind of music, but honestly I never really gave any of it a good listen. Since I've been playing Rockband, I've actually developed an affection for some of these bands, particularly Alice In Chains. My husband, on the other hand, tells me he may jump off the deck if he hears Man In The Box one more time .

I remember reading an article in one of my guitar mags and it was with Yngwie Malmsteen. They would play a song and ask him his opinion of the song. They played a song by Pearl Jam and he commented that the singer sounded like he was sitting on the toilet pushing out a big one.
