You know the CAPTCHA security codes that you have to type in on Ticketbastards in order for them to make sure you're not a computer? Well I've gotten some funny/odd ones lately:

fluffy peter
stomp children
fraud minorities
willy hanging

Glad I'm not the only one who's seen some ridiculous codes. I just got this one trying to find a floor seat for the Louisville show in a few weeks:

daffodil $1,400,000-a-year

Seriously, Ticketmaster?

i had to investigate after i got some pretty bizarre word combos & discovered that we are supposedly digitizing books from the internet archive.
http://www.npr.org/templates/story/stor ... d=93605988

And here's another thing: "When you pull two random words from books, you can get some very random combinations," says Brian Pike, chief technology officer for Ticketmaster.

The two words can occasionally form juxtapositions that could be weird or offensive. "And there's certain phrases and words we've asked them to make sure don't show up," Pike says.

Thanks for that link. That was pretty interesting and explains a lot about the process.

CP, how the Hell are they going to do paperless ticketing? I am headed to the Meadowlands (Giants Stadium), and am going paperless. WTF is going to occur?

I think what they do is scan the credit card you used to buy the tickets and check it with a photo ID. You have to enter the venue at the same time as all the people in your party if you are in a group.

Doing great! Heading out to Verizon Ampitheater next week to see Def Lep/Poison/Cheap Trick. First time out since the Journey show last year. Got Chickenfoot at the end of the month and The Cult a week later. Making up for a year's break from concerts. You?

Journey in Rockford in 2 weeks, the Augeri Journey To The Cure show and then Journey in the Bay area in California. Other than that just some local bands. Caught Survivor earlier this year. Good, albeit short, show.

They're only playing in Henderson, NV and I'm not interested in seeing them there. I'm going to California for the Journey fan party that Frank Martinez holds annually. He has Miles Schon's band playing, his own band and Evolution, a Journey tribute band from the Bay area. All that, food and beer for $25...can't beat it. And the people that attend are top notch. Neal's mom and step-dad showed up last year, which I thought was really cool. The next night is the Journey show about 70 miles away. That's my Journey "trip" this year. Can't wait.

this is the way it worked when i went to see ac/dc:
about 10 days prior to the show, i got an email from TM reminding me to bring my ID & the cc used to purchase the tix. it also specified which gate to enter. at the gate, there was event staff with handheld scanner/printers. they asked if my entire party was present, then scanned my cc & printed a receipt stub that had my seat locations. we had to immediately enter the arena - no chance for scalping. the process was fairly quick, but not entirely paperless.
