Steve Perry on Twitter?

Postby weatherman90 » Sun Aug 02, 2009 9:13 am

I'm out in Sturgis this week for the rally, and I check finally get into my email to find this:

Image

Instant reaction was: "Wow - Steve Perry is following me on Twitter!"

On quick analysis, it is of course not Steve's twitter, but rather looks like something our very own MBPL is behind. (Twitter.com/BeakyPearTree). Or maybe she's not the only one to use the 'pear tree' name.

Meanwhile, Twitter.com/StevePerry "does not exist". It makes me wonder if Twitter is reserving these spots for the real deal.

:?

Funny, Perry really doesn't seem like the Twitter kinda guy to me, what with his penchant for privacy and all. 8)

Twitter has about 20 accounts named Steve Perry. The purpose of using that name so other tweeters that want to tweet about their favorite singer,
just like they do on MR can find it. The important thing is to be sure you let the general public know, you aren't actually Steve Perry. Websites that are about Steve Perry, disclose they are not affiliated with Steve Perry, just like the twitter account you mention, a fan site, NOT Steve Perry himself.

  LOLOL --- That's funny.

IF --- and that's a big IF ---- the real Steve Perry actually had a Twitter account he certainly wouldn't activate it under his real name. He'd be smart enough to use a pseudonym for anonymity.

Hey Matt - I'll be interested in your Aerosmith review and pics

Here's Neal from Sturgis doing the SSB. Always loved this especially with the motorcycles showing their distinct sign of approval

I do recall seeing some posts on Youtube and Steve Perry fan sites under the name BeakyPeartree.

Absolutely! Not sure how it will all go down, but I do hope to score some great Aerosmith shots.

Great clip, I wish Journey was in Sturgis this year! Arnel would be a hit without a doubt (but then again when isn't he?)

Twitter is the dumbest shit ever, I hope it dies out soon. Hearing about tweet this and twitter that has come close to sending me over the edge a couple of times.

Was just alerted to this thread.

Sorry, I would never pull a gag like that, not my style. I once mentioned online a draft of a book I self-published titled:
"Open Arms, A Musical Journey to Finding The Elusive Singing Pear Tree." The Elusive Singing Pear Tree is the name I penned for Perry, but that's about it. (The book is not available to the public) BTW

Thanks weatherman90 for recognizing lunacy at it's weirdest...me, that is. Have a great week, MBPL

Did you score any shots of Steven Tyler breaking his back after dancing off the side of the stage?

Exactly, and don't forget, he always said he was going to get a website going, and he never did. So if he decided against having his own personal website, I doubt he would be tweeting. If it's an official celeb, it will be duly noted on the page.
