I'm not sure if this has ever been touched on before, but are there any Journey demos of songs that made it to the albums? I don't think I've ever heard any. I'm just curious to know if there are any out there? If so, I'd LOVE to hear them.

Excellent question. Aside from the bit on Time3, I would love to hear early versions of songs.

There are lots that didn't make it, but apart from the Revelation demos, and the Fleischman version of WITS i am not sure i have heard any, but there HAS TO BE some out there, somewhere.
Will check though. May take a while.

There are probably a lot of Demos like this laying around. Sony probably owns the distribution rights though.

Damn, that's just a little too high and girly for me... sometimes early Perry grates on me.

Holy crap that's some singing. I do agree with you Ehwmatt. While his high notes are amazing I prefer SP's post 1980 voice better. A whole album of him singing that high is a little too much. I like his mature more soulful delivery much better.

Yeah, I agree Tree. A little too Geddy Leeish for me too. He could get way the hell up there though.

Many of the songs in the early days with Perry grate on me, the way Mariah Carey can. His voice on certain songs back then does nothing for me highpitched-wise and tone-wise, but then in the same timeframe his vocals on songs like Patiently, I'm Cryin', WITS, on and on, stunning, amazing, chills.

Check here....

Under the bootlegs section. I have found demos from the infinity sessions and the departure sessions. Some really interesting versions of songs we all know.

BTW, I've also found bootlegs of concerts from every era of the band!

Not that I remember. I joined so I could do searches and also make requests. Otherwise you just have to read through all the posts to find what you want.

Easy, members post links to sites such as rapidshare, megaupload, etc. You just follow the links. Some of the download sites make it hard for you to download unless you have a premium membership. I have not joined any of those sites and I still have found many jems that reside on my mp3 player!

+1 This is a great site for downloads of demos, bootlegs and concerts for all different artists. I just Googled Journey demos and it took me right to it. I have downloaded a lot from this site. Everything is downloadable through Rapid Share or Mega Download. Word of warning. Much of the old stuff downloads as a RAR file not Mp3. You will need special software to open, but you can get the software for free off the internet. I've found some Departure, & Infinity demos as well as Steve Perry/Alien Project.

That isn't a demo. That is from the King Biscuit Flower Hour radio show recorded in 1978, recorded live in the studio. They were joined in the studio by the Tower Of Power horn section, Tom Johnston from The Doobie Brothers and Annie Sampson and Jo Baker from Stoneground. Love this whole session and wish they had officially released it. They did include one track from the session (Good Times) on the Time3 box set.

Very cool info, thanks! That recording is amazing, and I wish that version would have made the album.
