Just tuned in. Thanks for the head up Peartree! :)

Maybe some of the footage that wasn't suitable for tv back then can now be shown. Nudity ran rampant.

I'll tell you what. The pot back then is nothing like the pot today. Unless you were smoking thai stick that the GI's were bring back from Vietnam, most of the stuff cam from Mexico and wasn't all that great. Back then you you could smoke all day and just maintain a nice mellow buzz. The stuff today has a much higher THC content.

Ah yes, those were different times. Still, some people didn't know when to quit fooling around with that shit and developed serious drug addictions. Unfortunately I know too many people from those days who either went to prison for drug dealing or woke up dead. I gave up drugs in my 30's and drinking in my 40's (except for a cocktail or glass of wine once in a while when I go out to dinner.) My life today might be boring compared to my wild youth but I'm still here to tell about it. And I sure don't miss the hangovers.

I was a big doobie smoker back in those days. They instituted random drug testing at my job back in the early 90's and I quit then. A friend of mine talked me into taking a couple of hits a few years ago, and holy hell. That stuff has either gotten way more potent, or I'm just not used to it anymore, because after two puffs, I couldn't hold my head up.

Here’s my "scared straight" story: coke never did anything for me. I tried it twice & felt absolutely nothing. Pot was my main forté, but I’ve tried almost everything b/c I was a sucker for peer pressure. One night a friend of mine & I were driving around & trippin on acid. In case you’re not familiar with that, it will react one of two ways in your system. You will either laugh your ass off at anything & everything or you will hallucinate monsters & mountains opening up to swallow you whole & shit like that. The first result was fun (I ain’t gonna lie). The second result is like dying & going to hell. This one night when my friend & I were driving around, we came to an intersection & a car ran a red light & crossed the street in front of us, hitting a pedestrian & killing her. It happened so fast that at first I wasn’t sure what I saw. I wasn’t sure that was A PERSON I saw bouncing off the hood & windshield of that car. I thought it was a large bag of garbage. Naturally, the car came to a stop & me & my friend, who were already stopped, realized what we had just seen & instead of feeling stunned, we started laughing hysterically. The man & woman who were in the car that hit the pedestrian where in a state of shock & panic. The woman was crying. The man was obviously upset. The pedestrian who’d been hit by the car laid on the pavement obviously dead ---- & my friend & I were laughing at all of this. The next day when I was no longer high, I thought that what I’d witnessed the night before was all a bad dream until I saw the story on the news & later read it in the paper. It was then that I remembered how I couldn’t stop laughing the night before. Here, I had watched a person die & it seemed funny at the time. I never touched the stuff again. I was ashamed of myself. I couldn’t believe that that was ME.

Not a great way to get off the stuff but sometimes it takes stuff like that to wake people up and at least youre still kickin. Ive seen alot of overdoses. Its a terrible thing to witness.

Some people just have addictive personalites by nature and get hooked. I never had an addictive personality and tried plenty of stuff but never cared for any of it one way or the other enough to do more than socially. Even alcohol would never be a problem for me. I have friends who truly have an addictive personality and for them more is always better and it has caused problems in their lives in relationships with their continual overindulgence of alcohol, pot, or other drugs.

That stuff has either gotten way more potent, or I'm just not used to it anymore, because after two puffs, I couldn't hold my head up.

Same here. I never felt like that when I was smoking in the 70's & 80's unless it was opiated. The stuff out there now is way stronger than the pot I smoked. That's why I quit. I was interested in copping a nice mellow buzz, putting some music on and kicking back. The modern pot just knocked me out and all I'd do is sleep.

Well, shit I missed the show. Football is on now...which is fine too! Hey Peartree, your bringing back some "groovy" memories! LOL

Yeah well, we had to grow up at some point. But oh the memories remain. I guess I'm considered boring now too but it's not so bad.

Well that goes without saying, but I quit pot in the 80's, and I wasn't old then. :(
