Did I miss a big tv special this weekend or something?
I think there is a new dvd/live cd thingy out this weekend. I'll definitely check it out. Anyone else (besides Andrew

) a big fan of Mr D? Hard to believe he's almost 70.

For a while, Neil had this thing in his live voice where he almost growled like a heavy metal singer during a lot of his tunes. I had the "Hot August Nights" CD for a while and it got a little annoying, but I still love the guy.

I heard Neal refunded tickets for one his shows because he didn't feel he gave a good performance. That's something you don't see every day.

Holy cow. How do you come to that decision as a performer?

They mention the can of worms that could be opened when it comes to artist that mime their performances. A Dangerous precedent for entertainers.

I agree with those that felt he should have just cancelled the performance to begin with. Nice gesture, but if he had laryngitis he probably should have gotten some rest! Still, at his age, it's pretty amazing he's out there on the road at all.

Gotta love Mr.Diamond!
I picked up his DVD that came out. And as always, he's just awesome. It was only at Wal-Mart for 12 bucks, came with a bonus CD of ten songs that are his favorites. Two songs are re-worked versions, I believe it was Play Me and Sweet Caroline.
I do recommend it

Neil Diamond is a legend, a first class perfomer all the way.I saw him 5 years ago, the place was pack and he kicked ass. He is one of the few great performers that is left and still performs and doesnt lip. I wish Journey would have offered refunds for all the lipped concerts they pulled their fans???

That special the other night was captivating. He sounded awesome and the crowd was insanely into the show. Shocking to see all of the young people in the crowd. I couldn't turn it off. Something about that guy just exudes coolness.

I calculated that out with my own numbers, erring on the side of the least amount and came to the conclusion that they would be looking at 4.2 million dollars in refunds to ticket holders if they went that route.

You're right. My mom got some wild idea once that we had to go see Neil Diamond as family so my sister and I got dragged. I think it was around 1993... I didn't want to go to an "old people concert" and I bitched all the way there. But you know... it wasn't a bad time! And we had 4th row seats.

(it was at my beloved and much-missed Chicago Stadium

)

He is an incredible talent both as a songwriter and a performer. Seeing him in concert was impressive. He went on for over 3 hours that night with only a few very minuet breaks between some songs. He is legendary.

If yu ever come to L.A., We'll go to a show at the Greek. It's really a great place for a concert. The Moody Blues filmed a DVD there a few years ago. Nestled into Griffith Park, it is just beautiful.

I think it was the second or third song in and Justin messed up the lines. He looks at John, looks out at the audience and is like "We're going to start all over again, from the top" and they basically started the whole show over again from the beginning so they wouldn't have to edit out the performance or lose the momentum from the first few songs.
