Cool Journey Experience Tonight

Tonight we did that wedding at Belhurst Castle on Seneca Lake in upstate NY.

I was pretty surprised because you normally don't see a couple that wants to actually have an entire concert of Journey music at their wedding reception.

Anyway, this ranks up there with one of the coolest Journey related experiences I've had. We played our two hour show, and ended with the Foolish Heart/Oh Sherrie medley and the psuedo-encore of AWYWI. So we finished that up, and the wedding crowd people started chanting for another tune. We've been replaying DSB lately for an encore, cause that's really what people want to hear these days, so we did it again, and they went nuts.

Then they wanted another tune after we finished that. So I told them there was no way in hell we could top that encore unless there was some sort of fire involved. Luckily there were candles all around the reception hall at every table. So we got all the guests there to each grab a candle and come out to the front of the stage, and the lights were down and there were all these little flickering candles being held up, and we played "Faithfully" for the bride and groom one more time. I went into the crowd in the middle of the candles, holding up my own candle I was handed, and we ended the song a capella, with the entire crowd singing the refrain at the end, then there was just silence and all these candles everywhere. It made the hair on the back of my neck stand up.

I'm so glad this music still means so much to so many people, and so lucky that I can be a part of sharing it. These two people have begun their lives together this evening, being sent out into the world with that final image of their wedding reception. Pretty cool experience. Thanks for the music, guys.

Heheh, it's early and that one took about 20 seconds to register, but nice.

Thats sweet, Jeremey. I'm sure the wedding attendees had a fantastic time and you helped give them some great memories. 8) Hopefully you didn't do Edge Of The Blade for the happy couple.
