OT - New Jovi

Found this....an upcoming song from the next Jovi album.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Oe_IitLeg4

The musical intro sounds like a VERY slowed down version of Sambora's vocorder gymnastics on 'Livng on a Prayer'

I saw this a week or so ago. Doesn't do much for me... maybe the album version is better.

I agree....Jovi never did much for me anyway. They always seemed to be a poor man's Def Leppard.

I don't want to hear about Jon the humanitarian.....about the hungry and working men. I want to hear about holding on to what you got, and six-strings in hock. About blazes of glory and rockin' a million faces.....

Totally agree, hate when artists like Bon Jovi, Mellencamp, U2, Springsteen do that. I turn to music for entertainment.......to get away from the world's woo's and political bs.

Typical cookie cutter BJ song. Slightly better than that acoustic mess.

BTW, I was told by a session guitarist that I know that Michael Bormann is working on his next album (my session friend is on it).

Yeah, you mean like these bands that actually write great lyrics and have a true meaning in their songs? Yeah, I would much rather have those cheesy assed Mr Big songs.

I'll agree, collectively Mr Big aren't the greatest writers, musicians A+ and great rockin music, sure.........but, I much prefer EM's solo songwriting. Sorry, I prefer Mellencamp's and Jovi's older material. I listen to music for fun and entertainment......I'll get my politics/world's problems from the news thanks. I go to a concert to hear the music live, could care less about their political beliefs.

Music is a form of expression and there have always been songs that express how the writer feels about many things...love mostly, but also whatever is going on around them. It's a form of storytelling that others can relate to. Folksinging is all about telling a story....african slaves singing in the field...minstrels strolling cobblestone streets.....songs written due to repression as in working in a coal mine...etc.

Even purely instrumental music is intended by the writer to convey a feeling that some can connect with.
So anyone writing songs now about their view of the world around them...even if it's about the working class or political in nature....it is nothing new.....they are actually carrying on a long tradition in music.
So, although these types of songs may not speak to you, they do to others.

Yes, it does. And the JBJ's intro to the song sounds like Bruce Springsteen. Maybe it's just a New Jersey thing.

Agree - this second single still doesn't have that "Rock" sound people anticipated this album would have, but it is better than

"Work for the Working Man."

This stuff was done years ago and Mellencamp & Springsteen did it much better.

I LOVED Bon Jovi in 1985! Unlike Journey, that music doesn't hold up like the J-Catalogue for some reason.

Here's a question - Has Bon Jovi gone country in recent years, or did country artists try crossing over by recording with him?
