EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. – The Minnesota Vikings say they have a deal to bring Brett Favre back to the NFL.

The 39-year-old quarterback took a plane to Minnesota on Tuesday, drove to Vikings training camp and was in a helmet and pads less than 90 minutes after arriving. His practice jersey was the familiar No. 4, the same number he wore for years with the rival Packers.

The team confirmed a deal was done to The Associated Press, but terms were not immediately disclosed.

This is Favre's second comeback. A year ago, the former Packers star came out of a short retirement to join the Jets.

Yea, he's missed so many games before, hasn't he? NONE.

One of the 3 best QB's ever. He can still play. If he hadn't hurt his arm last year, he was having a great year.

I hope he pounds the ungreatful Packers.

David Carr and Alex Smith :D

No.. really.. to depict decades upon decades and different era's of quarterbacking to just 3 doesn't do the game justice. The debate between the top dawgs of Montana/Starr/Staubach/Aikman/Bradshaw/Marino/Favre/Manning/Brady/Young/Elway and countless others will be never ending debate.

His retiring/not retiring Green Bay vengeance act is so tired. The guy is a pathological liar and an egomaniacal douchebag.

And I am not just saying this as a Jet fan who witnessed his 'greatness' while he fucked up the last 5 games of our season.

Go away, old man. GO AWAY ALREADY.

The biggest jokers in this whole deal will be the Vikings. Farve- great QB , but too old to do the vikings any damn good.

The Pack will be so damn fired up when they see Farve in Purple theyll pull all the stops out. Vikes will just get beat by the Pack, with Farve in Purple that will be embarrasing.

& Theres only one thing worse than getting beaten by the Pack , and thats getting embarrased by them.

Sigh, , aint been a decent QB in Vikingland since Fran!

I never said he wasn't a great QB splash... Never said he missed a game either...

But the NFL isn't just a game of inches.. its a game of nano seconds... and a 39 year old Farve will not last too long with an offensive line that is ranked 20th

Chris Carter thinks this makes them better... but not a contender.

Say what you guys want.. EVERYTHING BUT FOOTBALL ASIDE.. The Vikings are better with Favre at the helm rather than Sage Fucking Rosenwhatever and Tavaris Fucking Jackson, excuse my language. I don't agree with how Favre handled ANY of these situations since March of 2008. But, this is going to provide NFL fans with a helluva storyline and you'd all be liars to say you won't watch that Monday Night when Favre heads to Green Bay at Lambeu field. Minnesota has their team right now to where any team wants to be. To win in this league you have to stop the run, and run the ball. They got both, which are the best in Football at the moment. With the addition of Favre, he can propel them to new heights with as far as even game planning is concerned. I think I'm the only one that's lovin this move by the Vikes.

Remember, it was just 2 years ago that a 13-3, Championship run Green Bay Packers was led by a furious and money, Brett Favre. My opinion, he still got it.

Until, like someone else said, he gets hit hard (especially in his bad arm) and his career is over. A lot of people (especially Green Bay and the Bears) will be gunning for him now, he might as well be wearing a great big target on his back Image

and if Favre gets hurt... who steps in? The guys who just got the shaft?

No point in arguing... haha... if Favre does well yer right... if he get his leg split in half like Thiesman and lays screaming on the ground with his arms flailing around like the Robot from Lost in Space... I'm right...

This system fits him well as it relies on a lot of short passes. This should allow him to be hit far fewer times than he was the last two seasons. Add Adrian Peterson to the mix and you have a QB that you're basically relying on to be mistake-free and show leadership. Favre can do these two things. He has thrown picks in the past, but with someone as good as AP behind him and a short passing game tailored to him strong and accurate arm I think he'll do well.

The big thing people here are missing is that he's gonna play in a dome and he has thrived in this dome. Brett Favre hasn't been a cold weather QB in many years. Hell, he's won three playoff games in the last eleven years, and that's mainly because he's choked in the late second half of very cold games. If he can stay relatively healthy and the Vikings can play some playoff games at home they're gonna be a motherfucker to beat. Say what you want, but they're a better team than they were several hours ago.

In the game of football, everybody is gunning for everybody. Brett Favre holds the record for consecutive starts in ALL of sports. He hasn't missed a start ever since his first start in 1992. What makes you think in 18 years worth of hits, that 1 hit is going to change that? The man is invulnerable. Yes he's older, yes he had surgery, but 100% of football players play through pain, and this is no different. Hits won't stop Favre or scare Favre anytime soon.

That's HILLARIOUS and a great idea.

My intake on Brett Favre's concerns is October 25th. @ Pittsburgh.

I agree with everything you said Dan, but the dome comment. Brett Favre is actually a HORRID dome player, and his record is well under .500 when playing in Domes. I think it's like 6-13, or 6-14 or something, not sure the exact W-L's but no, he has not thrived in games when playing in a Dome. He's played in Green Bay for 17 years of his career, and we all know the field is frozen in October when it comes to Lambeu. If anyone, Favre is the ultimate player when playing in cold weather.

I guess 1 stat is worth mentioning to a certain agree.

Brett Favre's Super Bowl Record. 1-1.
Brett Favre's Super Bowl record outside: 0-1.
Brett Favre's Super Bowl record in a dome: 1-0.

Take it for what it's worth when it counts the most I suppose.

Mr.Cal Ripkin would disagree with you I think.

I suppose you're right since baseball plays well over 100 games a season. I should of just said in all of Football, which is earth shattering as it is.

And I will contend that Desmond Howard won that SB, Favre was average, AT BEST....
