The Anita Baker of the UK. You always seem to find the perfect song for your type of vocals. It is now added to my playlist, thanks.

I wish you could crank the music a little louder on "Dreams". I love the flutes from the Corrs version but they seem a tad bit soft here.

Baby Can I Hold You is a keeper.

I'll just say that your version of Open Arms is better than Leonard's version of Faithfully. I can hear your accent, believe it or not. Have you sang that live at a club yet? If so, how has it gone over? I'm not really that into it, to be honest.

Hey Susie! Great cover of Black Velvet, I've always thought you really nailed things. Looking through your myspace page, you have Annie Lennox as an influence, and I can definitely hear a bit of her warmth and control in your voice as well....Great job!

Susie,

That sounds sexy as... well you know what I mean.

I'm a jazzer at heart, but love my rock as well. You do both so well.

Thanks everyone!

GB - I sang Open Arms back in the day, but don't do it any more. Journey only had two hits over here, and that was one of them. Maybe if I was still in a rock band, I'd have a crack at doing it again live, but now we've pared down to a duo and play smaller venues it's not the kind of stuff the audiences want.

Rick - yep, I am self taught. I just listen to a song a few times and learn how it goes, then open my mouth and just sing it. Haven't a clue about chest voice, head voice and stuff. I leave that to the people who are trained.

Jer - That Dreams song is bugging me though.
I haven't nailed that bugger yet. It's a tough one for me to nail.

I used to feel inadequate because I can't read music. But after mixing with a few people in bands and in stage shows etc who could read it, I learned that a lot of people can talk the talk but when they actually come to sing....they just can't put the soul or the emotion into it for all their knowledge.
So, I quit feeling inadequate.
And Frank Sinatra couldn't read music either, so I figured I was in good company!

No idea what my range is either. I can either hit the note or I can't. And if I can't hit it, I either move on to another song or change the key. But some songs just don't sound right in a lower key.

I think my voice is a jazz one really.
Annie Lennox can sing WAY higher than me - but I have been told before that I remind people of her a bit.

It's all good.

And I love how everyone says my voice is 'smooth' - you know my jazzy/easy listening duo is called smooth duo, right?

I'm so glad you all like my work.
You've made my day.

My Mum died two years ago this week and I'm feeling a little sad.
You all cheered me up.

That's why I come here.
There are some great people.

xxxxxxx

What a great voice you have, SusieP. Love you in this song ... sassy!

I think I read where SP says he can't read music, either. So you're definitely in good company!

I wonder if he would like an English backing singer on his new album?
