Wednesday they played around with it all day long. Couldn't fix it. Said the outside unit had to be replaced. Won't have one until noon on Thursday. Debbie called the office and said "I'm not staying here, I'm going to go get a hotel room and you're paying for it." The manager said we can't do that, but you can stay in the "model" apartment. Which is what they did. I stayed here and looked after the animals and enjoyed the piece and quiet.

Today they finally got the new outside unit, which is twice as big as the old one, all hooked up and running and by 1:30 we had air.
What I found puzzling was, the guy didn't vacuum the system. Just hooked up the new unit, charged it and headed to his next call. I even asked him why he didn't vacuum it, and he said "Bah, there's not enough air in there to do anything." I'm thinking "Ok, Zoomer."
It's cooling very well. Actually better than it ever has, but if you don't vacuum it first, it decreases the lifespan of the entire system. Vacuuming it removes all the air and moisture. Which, if left in the system, when the refrigerant is added, causes a chemical reaction that produces an acid that, eventually destroys the entire planet.

I'm just glad that for the first time in 3 days, I'm not sweating. It was about 88 degrees in here, which to some, might be a nice day at the beach, but it sucks in an apartment that has no ocean breeze.
