Youngstown, Ohio review

Bare with me, as I am still tipsy from last night. Okay.. (where do I begin).. we get to the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio and immediately out comes the 40 and 25 pack of alcoholic beverages. That's all I have to say about that half of the story. We had 3 people back out on us on front level seating, so we helped out two sweet women who took the tickets on the front level. As people PACKED the Covelli, so did beer after beer. Before heading in, I ran into Stu briefly and we exchanged a rock on hug.

Got in, and the energy is immediately felt. Heart is a jaw dropping experience yet again and Ann Wilson is M-O-N-E-Y.. as usual. You know what your getting with Heart. A truly heart felt performance by the Wilson sisters. They never disappoint. But this night belonged to Journey. I was so unbelievably fired up for this that my X-ray vision was acting up. Once Journey came on stage, the crowd went absolutely ballistic. WOW! What a great, ballistic crowd. Deafening to say the least. I was jumping balls to the walls ALL night. Jonathan Cain threw me 5 pics until my drunken ass caught one, but from jumping around I lost it. (I'm a dipshit for that.) Arnel made sure he rocked with me a little. He was probably wondering who the nut in the first row was.. but he delivered a couple walk off grand slams!

I Didn't miss a note. Neal was running all over the place, just feeding off the crowd like a parasite. They had us eating out of the palm of their hands. Arnel sounded astonishing amazing, and is LIGHT YEARS away from where he was 1 year ago. WOWOWOWOWWOWOWOWOW. Whoever doesn't approve of this lineup needs their thick head examined. The energy this man leaves on the stage is non-describable.. Arnel, by far, is one helluva performer, and this is the Journey that I LOVE. I can go on and on how great the concert was. This one easily hit the 10/10 mark. What a great, epic night. Thanks to Journey and Heart for rocking my damn world out there. I thought this trip went better than the 3 I went to last year, including Vegas. We all need to get together in the VERY near future.

A little note: I was so inebriated to the point where it wasn't funny. I wore a new Journey shirt.. I ended up ripping it off my body and throwing it down on the ground.. to which some bitch stole it. I wasn't too happy about that once I FINALLY realized after the show that my shirt was stolen.. even though the lady next to me told me, haha. Ohwell. Great Night..great band.. When are we doing this again?

This is a shout-out to all the people who don't support this lineup. Not to be a dick...but YOU'RE A DUMBFUCK.. talk about missing out on greatness? Rock on Journey..ROCK ON.

Here's some pics of the night.

I took all the pictures with my cell, since they don't allow camera's. Surprisingly, they came out not too shabby!

I noticed this the last review too, where people feel compelled to bring up people that aren't into this lineup. What's up with that? It totally ruins the review. That's like me saying.

ALL YOU NEW FANS WHO NEVER WENT TO AN AUGERI SHOW OR PAID TO SEE JSS WITH THE BAND, YOU'RE DUMBFUCKS.
ALL YOU PEOPLE THAT WON'T BUY OLDER ALBUMS BECAUSE ARNEL'S NOT ON THEM, YOU'RE DUMBFUCKS.
ALL YOU STUPID PEOPLE THAT DON'T KNOW THE TITLES OF ALL THE SONGS THEY'RE PLAYING DURING THE SHOW, YOU'RE DUMBFUCKS.

Still a nice review though, thanks.

I realize that, but I don't care. It had to be said and that's the way I feel. Take as it lye's but as a fan of Journey, I just don't get how you can't be into this lineup. Augeri, JSS, yes, but the overall performance of this band is overwhelming. My opinion? Yes.. just ignore it. I'm enjoying the HELL out of Journey right now.

Great read. Thanks, YJ. Sounds like an amazing concert. I'm so psyched from all the great reviews. I hope they still have that energy by the time they hit here in Orlando the end of September. 8)

We didn't see this stuff during reviews from last year's shows. It's like a nerve has been struck. Well, it does invite conversation so people bitching about review threads getting hijacked are with out a leg to stand on in these instances. The more I think about it, the more I like it. It opens the floor for some good material from both sides.

ROCK ON JOURNEY!

Love ya Trav, great review, but ending it with an F U to fans that aren't piddling their pants over this line up..............as Gbot said, kinda ruined it IMO.

I run one of those big attic fans at night. It's cheaper on electricity. Don't know if it would do much good during a hot day in Texas. It hasn't been too bad in L.A. this summer so I can't complain.

Not really.....I am not the one doing the name calling here....and some people think that they can say whatever thay want but when I point out someting less than stellar about the current line up I get the wrath...Some of us don't like the new lineup and telling us that we are dumb just does not sit well with me.

You wrote a very enthusiastic review. Nice. But I'm curious just how much the amount of alcohol had to do with it? Don't get me wrong, drinks and concerts go hand in hand, but you yourself said that "I was so inebriated to the point where it wasn't funny"...
I'm sure Journey sounds great, I like Arnel and all, but I'm just wondering how accurate is the SHOW review itself. No doubt you had fun, so what I'm saying - is this a review of your fun or of the concert? lol

Side note: this pic could be inspirational material for TNC.

Like you said, this is the WHOLE point of a concert. I could be drunk as a skunk and still not enjoy a Lil Wayne concert. I probably wouldn't want to be completely smashed at, say, a Dream Theater concert... but Journey music? Chug the beers and crank the guitar, it's all about fun when you're there in person. You don't care about a slight accent issue at that point... you're havin a great time, as he seems to have had. I know I woulda had a great time, my small reservations w/ Arnel and the Eb tuning aside.

Hole-LEE- Schit are you kidding me? Please.. I don't want to turn this into a flame war. I stand by my word, I'm not pointing at you just getting my point across that this new lineup rocks hard and it's a shame people..like yourself.. don't approve when we as all fans are getting what we are asking for as far as energy and magic is concerned. I'm sorry you took it the wrong way, not my fault. I'd put it even BIGGER words if there was a BIGGER option of bold letters because that's how I feel. The way I look at it, people who won't give the lineup a shot IMO won't allow themselves even if they want to, and it's cool. I'm not telling you what to do for Christ sake, I can give two shits if you like or dont like. My point was to say that people are missing out, period.

BTW: Laura, I tend to exaggerate my state of drunkenness if that's a word to once again.. get my point across. I had a nice buzz going on, and I was aware of how they sounded. I don't want to get into it and start pulling out X's and O's. Point is, you'd be a liar if you go to a concert and not have a good time if you call yourself a fan. (Now I'm expecting someone who is ultra sensitive to come in and yell that I called them a liar.)
