I was drinving to Atlantic City on Sunday night to see Jimmy Buffet. On the Atlantic City Expressway there is a huge billboard promoting the 2 upcoming shows at the Borgata on 9/4 & 9/5 The billboard was blue with "Journey" printed in huge print with the dates of the Borgata shows. Somehow I wish I could have the billboard sign when they take it down. It was HUGE!!

HUGE sales for these shows. The Borgata is a High School gym, with portable bleachers and holds about 1500 people, if that. The band loves it because they get to stay there 2 nights, and walk to their beds in 10 minutes and they get paid well too. A terrible venue. Those that have been there can attest to that. And casino crowds are always lame and quiet and most could care less about who's playing.

I am not even slamming them for playing the Borgata. I would too. But yes, you have to measure success and the size of the venue does matter. many of you here gloat when they book a nice sized arena. You can't have it both ways.

Ahhh, but we can, Dean. It's called variety. Hey they gotta play the little venues too or else the munchkins will feel left out.

In the end a dollar is a dollar...and that's gotta be why these geriatrics are going to work every day. It can't be a love of music.

Gloat? Excited for them maybe. But they will always play large and many smaller size venues at this stage of the game. They are a 30-year-old band who are doing great even with all the changes they've made. And, yes, for them to sell 750,000 albums should be celebrated by them and fans. Neal and company don't pretend to be anything they're not. You're the one that continually tries to compare them to Bruce and his stadiums to belittle them. We don't need them to be that big to still appreciate them and enjoy them, and neither did you, apparently, for many many years when you went to all their concerts, large and small and bragged on them on here as musicians. Personally, I never have and never will waste my money going to see a band play in a stadium. If I want to watch them on a big TV screen, I'll go buy the concert dvd. I'd much prefer to see a group perfoming in a small venue.

When i saw them with SteveA, there less then 2500 seats, {so they said, ] i think 1500 was more accuret and it was more like a wedding banquet room, i had to go back to my RV to get morewine,they had 1 line for booze,good thing i had a buzz for i went in.Thank god they did La Rosa Del Sole

So friggin what? Beau Rivage in Biloxi does the same thing...so does Tunica MS when <whoever> plays.

Why is it such a big deal for a casino to promote itself? It has nothing to do with the band.

Personally, I never have and never will waste my money going to see a band play in a stadium. If I want to watch them on a big TV screen, I'll go buy the concert dvd. I'd much prefer to see a group perfoming in a small venue.

Co-sign. I've seen U2 play in HUGE stadiums, so big that you are hard pressed to even see the stage, let alone the performers. My favorite type of concert are those 6,000 person basketball arenas. You are guarenteed a great view, and you get that 'big arena' feel, as well.

In all honesty, the Borgata is a much better venue than Deano is giving it credit for being. It's not a traditional casino showroom, filled with white-haired warriors making it a night out on comp tickets. I know a lot of people who have seen multiple Journey shows in the Philly area and they all agree that the sound and the crowd were much better at the Borgata than at the Camden "fill-in-the-corporate-sponsor-this-week" Center in New Jersey.

I agree radio. No way I would ever pay money to sit and watch a band from a quarter mile away, squeezed in so tight with people you cant move, and to be really unhappy to boot watching a concert in a stadium. Ill stick to watching those stadium shows on tv...better seats, you dont have to wait a half an hour in line for the bathroom, and I can actually see the musicians without binoculars. The 5,000 to 10,000 seat arena's Journey is playing at this summer are perfect, big enough to make it feel like a rock concert, but small enough that you still feel a part of the show.

Bruce can have his stadiums anyday, I prefer Journey anyways.
