CBS Early Show- I was there

I went into NYC to catch Journey on the CBS Early Show on Friday. I waited in line for 2 hours because they were set to perfrom at 11:30. Due to the rain they did not go on until 1:00 pm. Around 11:00 they started to pack up Jon's baby grand piano and I thought they were going to cancel the show. About an hour later I was right next to Jon as he was getting out of a black cargo van. Apparently, Jon was driven to a music store because they were taking out of the back of the van a brand new keyboard that was still in the box. I guess Jonathan didnt want his grand piano getting wet and I dont blame him. The roadies had to set up the new keyboard that Jon just bought. That delayed things for a while. If only had they put the overhead tarp on earlier it would have saved them alot of trouble. They didnt put the overhead tarp on the stage until around noon. Each member of Journey was interviewed and Arnel was asked how he feels about the comparisons to Steve Perry. Arnel said that Steve was his hero. Arnel was having some mic problems which let the rest of the band have some fun. Jon started to play Raindrops Keep Fallin on my head and the band did a nice blues jam. It rained hard fopr the first 15 minutes but it stopped completely for the next hour. They came out and played Ask the Lonely. DSB was played 4x. Be Good to yourself, Anyway You want it, Faithfully, Never Walk Away, and Seperate Ways.
Deen was banging on the drums the whole time. The crowd in the front was composed of mostly teenage girls. The sound was not good at all but I am sure it will sound better on TV.

So how was the show a half step down? I had a listen on youtube and I'm still struggling. The Revelation material suffers even more as it's already down in range on vocals.

It was not stepped down...if it is I can't tell. Also, I doubt they would step down for a show that's going to be broadcast on TV.

Why the fk anyone gives a crap if the music is played down 1/2 step, a full step, a full octave!! Peeps....this ain't a teenage band with pipes that havn't dropped their balls yet. Arnel is 40+ years old, singing this music with a powerful set up pipes several times a week ain't easy. If you really think songs sound "worse" a 1/2 step or a full step down, then I'd have to say you're lisenting way to closely and not absorbing the live performance as you should. If that's the case, just put the frickin original cd on and never go to a live show again. jeesh....

It's much different hearing it stepped down on a recording, even if it's a live album, as opposed to being there. I don't care much for the stepped down sound on youtube or what not, but I'm sure it wouldn't bother me too much at concerts.
