Interesting addition to the 'Journey' section at Best Buy

I was in Best Buy tonight, and I walked past the 'Journey' CD section and stopped because I saw something I didn't recognize.

Turns out it was the 'Zoology' album by The Zoo for sale for $16.99. It said that it was an import and had a sticker on the front that said "Featuring Arnel Pineda, New Lead Singer of Journey."

Didn't expect to see that at my neighborhood Best Buy.

I'm not familiar with the album, but the Survivor covers I've heard by Arnel are really good.

Listen to the examples that steveo put in the post above yours. Journey actually sounds like a hard rock band compared to this stuff.

I listened to parts of each of them. You're right, kinda mellow. Did Arnel write the lyrics for these songs? For Jrny's sake, I hope not. They weren't that good. Arnel's voice was soothing, though, so it kinda worked.

They'll probably throw his name on a few songs, regardless, just to shut us up. Without a killer Wal-Mart deal and multi-million dollar album sales receipts, it's not like he's going to be cutting a big piece out of Neal and Jon's royalty pie.

Here's a song with Arnel listed as the writer. More of a hard rock tune.

Did you really like that? Sure, it's harder, but hell I could hardly understand what he was saying. Honestly I liked the other songs better. :(
I'm not intentionally bashing him, I promise, I just don't think these are well-written songs. My favorite Arnel song is definitely AATY. He does a super job on that one.

I can't say I liked it. Just was looking to show that they TRIED to do some harder numbers. I honestly think Steve Perry would like this song more than Cain ever would.
