I'm not familiar with Ibanez's besides the old John Petrucci model and the JEM model... but then most of them are Super Strats of some design, so unless you play them or lust after them, kinda hard to differentiate, lol. I'd like to own a guitar with a H-S-H pickup config... I've got H-H in 4 of mine, S-S-S in my Ameri Strat, and S-S-H in my Luke. No H-S-H guitars yet...

It looks like the newer version of the RG 570.

Active pickups... they are generally hotter. Very popular in metal, somewhat popular for 80s style music (e.g. my Music Man Lukather guitar is loaded with custom EMG actives made for Steve). Even the single coils in the neck and middle position are completely quiet. The EMGs in my Luke are the only actives I've used that come anywhere near a satisfactory clean tone for arpeggios or clean bluesy style stuff. Awesome guitar/electronics!

I'm decent, I can play a lotta leads, got a pretty good ear... not nearly as good as like Jim would be on the piano for instance though. I'll feed you beers so I sound better

I looked, but I couldn't tell what it was. It's got a Fender Strat look to it, but it isn't one, or not a conventional one.

T-Bone's right. It's an RG1570, which is the J-Craft Prestige version of the original RG570.

The prestige line is built entirely in Japan, where as the rest of Ibanez's lower production stuff is done in Korea/China.

Yes....well, it could have been someone else, but I most certainly did swear off of floyds for a while...and at times I do find them frustrating....especially with double-stop bends, where the upper note gets dragged down by bending up the lower one. But then again, there's a great deal of cool things that you can do with a floyd that you can't do with any other tremolo system....So I've been sucked back into the void, so to speak!


Also, I dunno about other musicians/players....but at times, I've found myself pulled away from what I do best....often in an attempt to improve/widen my repertoire. But in the end, you have to follow your muse. While I'm not the best blues player I can be, I definitely do the hard rock/evh/schon/vai thing better than most...so stylistically, the RG fits me a little better than a Les Paul (my other squeeze).....and definitely better than a tele (the axe that I got rid off to be able to finance the RG1570 purchase)....

I woulda bought ur Tele! I hated Strats for years, bought one on a whim two years ago, and it is my "thing," for sure, aside from when I wanna try my hand at playin prog/heavier stuff. I just love the crisp tone of single coils, especially in the neck position. I think I just hated them for a while when I wasn't a very clean player at all and simply couldn't make the SCs sound good. Strats aren't exactly the most playable guitars in the world in some ways... but anyway, a Tele would be great for me.

That's why I love the Luke... I got a HOT bridge pickup and I can at least somewhat clean up with that single active neck... like a Strat, just louder and maybe not quite as snappy, but pretty close. Got my single coil tones and appropriate 80s/prog tones in one axe, good stuff. I still play my Strat a hell of a lot too though, maybe the most of any guitar.

I'd love an LP too, but Gibson quality is so hit and miss these days...
