People are clicking the voter button but not commenting on why they want things to remain the way they were.
Perhaps you could use this thread to give a compelling reason why the forum name should remain as Journey.

Well, ..... because Journey is on tour and, according to some, selling records like crazy, and is the best resurrected sound from the 80's. The mega fans of the band should have somewhere to go to discuss their passion?

Oh wait......there are more OT topics on this forum than any talk about the band, isn't there anything to talk about during the sold out tour of the country?

Maybe the forum should be OT. At least downstairs, the forum is called "Steve Perry" and that is what is discussed, whatever the topic (bodyparts, etc.) Could it be that Steve Perry rates higher than Journey these days?

Melodic Rock Generfal Forum or MRGF would fit since that's what this really is. Given enough time, Journey talk may even migrate downward to the looney bin.

Journey was the main attraction to this site as far as message boards was concerned, and the other beneath this will always trail. The damage has been way over done. Traffic runs through the Journey section no matter what the Loons or any other fan has to say. Lets face it, over 90% of the people here to check out Journey and what is going on with their band because more than likely, Journey is their favorite band regardless of what has happened the past several years, or decades.

Even look at the SP forum, all of the people down there was a follower here before that board. Steve Perry is not a singer that came out of the wood works 2 years ago, he was a creation of Journey. There is still a pretty good majority of posts that talks about the ongoing tour and things in between. I don't see how anyone can argue this, it's just impossible to talk about how Arnel can hit the note in Ask the Lonely better than Steve Perry 365 days a year. Other than being a freak about it, to even think of the thought that Steve Perry fans can get all giddy about a new rare picture just blows my mind. If anything, they are down their to spite this forum. Maybe it's just a vibe. Personally, I don't really care. I like this site, period and have no other desire to go anywhere but here.

I like this site too, and yes I'll be the first to admit that Journey was my favorite band in the day. And the (original) recording of the songs will continue to live on. I just choose not to support the current lineup as far as attending concerts or purchasing cds. I went to a concert back in 06 when JSS was singing for them. It was a great concert and JSS did a fantastic job with the songs. But the fact remained to me that this is not the Journey I loved so much. So I choose not to attend. But I still enjoy this forum and all of the input from everyone.

I'm pretty much a smart ass, so I love to go around about it all, but I am a "Journey" girl just the same.

I'll agree with that percent initially maybe. But I'd say well over 50% keep come back more for the people they've met and/or virtually met through the forum.

I just saw the forum name change and honestly, I can't blame Andrew for renaming this place. This is the most visited forum on MR but lately it's been About Everything and A Little Journey Too. It should be called Journey, though, just because the majority of the posters ARE the Journey fans. MR can't have a SP Forum and not a Journey Forum. These two names will forever be linked no matter what happens and no matter how much time will pass.

I don't know...Maybe Andrew just got annoyed by the mindblowing thread derailments and fights that have nothing to do with Journey. Speaking of which...I'm already sorry I started a Rare picture thread. My intentions were clear from the get go, but oh well...Who can't expect anything to go as planned on these boards? lol

I agree with this. What makes Journey so 'unspecial' that they don't get their own forum anymore?

He did the right thing, the only reason the masses visit this forum is because it's the first on the list. You could name it "Dont post here" and it would get the same amount of traffic. Just a quirk how forums work. Nuttin you can do about it.

I think there should be an OT forum in the first spot and then a Journey Forum in the 2nd spot. If this is all about the OT threads than make the rule that posts MUST be about Journey....
