in my opinion, the most difficult journey song to sing:

very few pitch issues here...

Nice... not the *best* tone, but it's not like he could top Perry's original anyway. But I'm biased; the original version of this song is probably one of my favorite songs of all time, and one of my favorite Perry vocal performances, too... :P

Right, but here's the thing....I've not heard any previous replacement singer hit all the notes in this song. Augeri had his issues with it...JSS had them as well. This sing, technically, is a fucking bitch to belt out.

Arnel actually pulls it off...

Man, that wasn't even a good version of Arnel singing it! :? All of your beefs with Arnel, and you say THIS version has no dictation issues? WTH??? I'll find you a version of this, better and cleaner than THIS one. I still wish we had an american singer (or someone named PERRY), but Arnel is okay. I won't be seeing them again though until they come out with another album.

Here you go...

Agreed.... Arnel is really belting it out now. Without question, he is their best replacement singer singing these songs of their catalog.

I just cannot take him singing Patiently/WCTNGOF, though :( . Sorry, he is singing too close to the real thing, and of all Journey songs, those are the 2 that are absolutely SP's (in my mind).

I understand. The audiance response to them sure was great though. Folks are definitely getting a great show and if they can't have SP, I'm convinced they are getting the best singer for this band possible at this point.

EXACTLY...and I'm not sure Mr. Perry himself could reach those high notes like he used to.

Not many shows left for this concert season. I wonder at which one they are going to bring out Winds of March? They will, I'm 95% certain of it, as they have been caught rehearsing it. I wonder if they're saving it for Las Vegas?

That one's going to be a bitch tuned down. I don't see them doing this one.

That's how I feel about ask the lonely.... that song has SP written all over it (maybe not literally, but still... goddamnit, he sounds so absolutely perfect singing it). But I agree that Arnel is definitely a good singer.

And strangegrey, I haven't heard Augeri or JSS's versions of that song. I should look them up sometime...

They might pull out all the stops, original key and all. Anything can happen. They have a couple days off after the Sept 30th show and then 2 final gigs. My guess is those last two nights, if it's gonna happen.

Well, I hope you're right. And I hope someone gets video of it. That would certainly be great.

Quality is not one of their concerns anymore. They adopted a new fan base that is tonedeaf and will take anything they throw out there. You've got people out there saying Pineda's version of WCTNGOF is the best thing since sliced bread and he hasn't even sang the complete song yet.
Journey deserves to be on Oprah, those are the type of fans they are cultivating now. Middle aged women who piss their pants when they hear Open Arms. Rock band, my ass.

Pointless. That ain't what the fans come to hear. They want to hear the legacy sound

If Journey was a big animal you would have SP grabbing one ankle and the casual fan grabbing the other. There is no escape.

AP came in with the weight of the Journey world on his shoulders....some peeps he would NEVER win over......he still won't...built in prejudices/hatred for the "business" side of the band....but.....the guy is kicking ass and taking names...and even the most JADED Journey fan has to...by now...admire AP for striving to get better and playing a major part in getting the Journey name OUT there again...

Its not pointless, Arnel is one hell of a singer, and im going to see journey tuesday, I just liked the originality that Augeri brought to the band when he sang with them,it wasnt a copy cat sound. Everytime I her "the legacy sound' comment it makes my balls itch really bad {i wont post a pict} i wish i could

I'm making sarcastic remarks here and there. Have fun at the concert. I wish I got to see one this year, but Washington state got left out of the mix this year.
