Journey Generations DVD Footage

Check this out. I randomly came across this clip from the DVD that Journey filmed on the Generations Tour, but never released. And the reasons why are obvious when you see this clip.

But anyway, it's done by the same company that's doing the Manila DVD, so that should give you an idea of the quality of the DVD camera work. And it looks awesome. I'd still love to have a DVD of the Generations Tour, regardless of what went down on stage.

Click the video that says Journey, midway down the page.

Still a shame it was never released. I still hope it somehow sees the light of day.

Too bad. Love the way it sounds exactly like the 2001 DVD..oops, nevermind. Had they released this, they would have been over. When people would have found they lipped this entire show and tour, poof!

Come on Augeri, get rid of the puffy microphone head, and at least try to pretend you're actually singing the song- like pulling away on long held notes? Geez.

Other than that, nice production.

When it's on a DVD, all you can do is upscale it to 1080 anyway and due to the limitation size of the disc, the audio will be compressed also.
If it isn't released on BlueRay, all the fancy specs are worthless. And who the hell has a 4320 HD television?

It would have been very interesting if that had been released before they were caught.

The production seems top notch. Lipping or not, I'd still buy it just to watch the HD and sound production, but I guess I already have the 2001 DVD to make up for it. What were they thinking making a DVD on this tour while under the impression of lipping anyways, being caught or not? Ohwell, I'd still buy it.

Journey "The Lost Years" would be a good title for that dvd. That clip was pitiful. Considering what they did with the Gens cd, they were at an all time low.

Then shuffling singers like there was no tomorrow. Folks say Arnel got a lucky break, I say the band did. And to think Jon didn't want him.

What a Friga.

Agreed. That would have been the end of their career. No promoter would have booked them.

Did you just not turn "Friga" into an adjective? Oh the possibilities are endless.

Friga You douchewad.

Did anyone else catch the title of the clip toward the bottom? "Hall and Oats".

As for the topic, I'd love to see the Gens. DVD.

Noun, adj, all works out the same. I agree with Rick above, band owes you big time for ending that farce. And not to trying to stir up another hornet's nest but they owe Jeff even more.

Essentially.

Even though they lost a lot of money paying for this to be recorded and edited, and then didn't sell it, it obviously paid off in the long run.

Not 'would' - did. I guarantee they still paid the production company to shoot, edit and mix the DVD. After all, they did their job. And then Journey ate all the costs when they didn't release it. It has to cost a lot to have a full production crew on hand for shooting a live DVD.

Which makes me wonder even more why they decided to film a show on a tour that had some funny business going on.

Damn just put it the hell out.
Sell it on the internet site but many fans would buy this myself included. It's in the can so release it.

Someday it will leak out as a bootleg. Count on it. Might take a few years, but it will happen.

I'd buy it for the sole reason that I was in the front row at that show.

I have some great pics from that show..I'll post them if I can find them

I found my arm ...LOL I'm wearing the white "One" rubber bracelet thing that Lula gave me before the show.

Despite the "large puffy microphone", it was a great time...we had a pre show party at the Texas Rangers Ballpark.

I don't care if it was lipped or not, I would buy it just to see that first set. Neal Deen and even Friga were playing for REAL on there.

I can't seem to find evidence of it right now, but I'm pretty sure this show was filmed late in the Generations Tour when they were done doing the two-set, three-hour performances. I want to say this was a two-hour show. Still a great setlist, but not the one with Kohoutek, Nickel And Dime, Of A Lifetime, I'm Gonna Leave You Now and some of the others they played early on in the tour.

I want to say it was in September 2005 in Dallas at the American Airlines Center. But that's not sounding right for some reason...

You'll be able to confirm my previous post. I'm wracking my brains to try to remember exact details about the show. Dallas, wasn't it? Was it a two-set, three-hour show?

Nokia in Grand Prairie, and it was the full 3 hour show. Complete with rent-a-hoochies and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.

It's already been four years...

There's still hope, though, because since I found that video footage now we know there is actually an edited recording of this show somewhere. I was never sure they actually had the video company go ahead and get the DVD ready for release. I thought they would have recorded it and then Journey would have said "forget it, don't do anything else."

THANK YOU! I knew Dallas didn't sound right. And I completely forgot about the uproar about the "rent-a-hoochies" And the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders. Wow, they pulled out all the stops for this filming. And it never saw the shelf!
