Arnel in 2007

Here is Arnel singing Stryper - Honestly on June 21st, not knowing seven days later he would be receiving an email from Neal Schon on June 28th and his life would be changed forever. I love his cover of this song. Arnel has handled himself with a lot of class under pressure these last couple of years and has proven he deserved the job.

It's funny to think that a singer with so much talent might have gone his whole life undiscovered if Neal hadn't clicked on that youtube clip.

Now playing: Harlan Cage - Thrill Of It All

The theory is that Arnel has been on Azoff Management's radar for a while. I think his band was managed at one time by Azoff's group that handles talent abroad. He wasn't necessarily tabbed for Journey for an extended period of time, but it's been thrown around that Azoff has known about Arnel for quite some time.

Might screw up the story Opah is itching to have them tell though. Almost truths are good enough, especially when it's to your benefit.

If they knew about Arnel, why then did they announce JSS as the lead singer of Journey? They could have just made it clear to JSS that he was a replacement singer and they are just hiring him to finish the tour. They could have then prepared Arnel (i.e. accent reduction coaching, professional voice lessons) on the side.

You would have also thought that if Azoff would partner with any Pinoy talent management agency, they would have chosen a company who has a big clout in the local entertainment industry. Somebody who could give its talents better gigs than singing in bars.

Exactly. There are peeps who are just talking out their asses. If you ask them to link some credible source they won't be able to.

Neal floated the idea of Arnel here in this forum. I...uh, watched the whole thing go down. And Arnel's 80,000 Youtube views before hand were no accident either. Someone was quite proficient with YT views and knew Journey was looking for a singer before Neal's email. Bravo to Arnel's management. And no, Azoff had nothing to do with it.

Certainly this must be stored here somewhere, right?
Once Arnel's friend Noel uploaded Arnel's videos there was a huge fanbase on the internet suddenly.
And, Jeremey, you should know as much as anybody, right?

use google to search for LockNLoad's posts here. People thought it was Neal, but my hunch is it's Lori.

The youtube clip that Tragchick linked was the Faithfully cover uploaded by Noel Gomez. Alas, Noel's YT account was removed including all his videos when IIRC, the Aerosmith management complained to YT about Arnel's cover version.

Back then YT could reload videos on automated scripts and each reload would count as a "play." I don't know anything about this situation, but I'm just sayin, to upload a video and have 90,000 views in a matter of weeks, was do-able in 2007 before YT changed the way you could count things.

You underestimate the amount of people who lurk at MR :D

I think when TragChick posted about it, loads of people checked it out. Since they couldn't believe what they are hearing, people hit the reload button to play the clip again.

No...no, that wasn't it. Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled programming!

Before it was posted here, nobody would know about the existence of Arnel. So you wouldn't also know that his YT clip had 90,000 views in a matter of weeks.
