I've changed my mind so am going on record that the division of Journey into 3 separate forums ultimately is a fail.

Stevew2 is right and so was Portland in wanting the Perry alone forum eliminated.

IMO, here's why.

When it was one forum, there would pop up good threads with constant activity, point, counterpoint, a place for a funny pic or some quick witted remarks. All happening in basically real time.

This was possible 'cause everyone was watching ONE forum, not traveling up and down seeing what was happening here and there.

I guess I'll weigh in with my 2cents here, since I'm just now getting used to the arrangement. I agree with SC's above observation -- too disconcerting having to jump around 3 forums ... AND also check out JSS's from time to time. And, Stone is right ... much better to have people together (flow of conversation-wise) at the same time instead of everyone jumping around from board to board.

If Andrew must have a place to lump all the "OT" talk, then at least combine the Journey-SP forums into one board. One of the attractions of MR is the interesting facts & debates that current Journey and SP fans can get into. Seems like, in order to keep peace, Andrew has turned his boards into somewhat of a sterile environment.

I'm happy with the current set up. I think Steve Perry - the greatest vocalist of all time - deserves his own forum

I, for one like the current set up, so I thank you Andrew. I may not post much but I do stop by every day to read what is there. I don't like all the Steve Perry bashing by people what appear to have nothing better to do with their time then to come across as bullies of the internet. Can do without that and I don't think the board needs that either. Not everyone with get along but if you can't stand someone, you can leave them alone.

Yes Andrew. Bring Perry back here and let the few have their OT's and place to play the stand up comic with their sports and one word thread. It leaves this Journey forum neat with serious posting. The band is doing well and when Perry's album comes out, if you bring Perry back, it will attract a lot of new posters. A lot of your best posters have left because of the inane and thoughtless posting that went on before you trimmed off the fat.

w2 never liked the new setup, I went a round with him about why I thought the separation would be better. Admittedly I don't miss the dozens of wayout OT and constant NewsBulletins threads but the place seems kinda humdrum.

I'm completely on board with you and Steve on this one SC. The new format is boring. Half the fun of being on the forum is watching some people self-destruct, Andrew getting pissed off, funny pictures and photoshop makeovers etc. I'm not liking the new sanitized version. Just sayin'

You can do that upstairs. This forum gets better each day except for today when the crap just has to start hitting the fan when certain people insist on letting it all hang out.
Lots of the great posters are still gone and will stay away unless there is some restraint. Andrew has had this forum for many years now but if he lets the few duds bring the board down, he will lose the support from the bands that he is bringing us news of. I may be wrong but that's how I see it.

Initially I thought it would take off too but hasn't yet. Maybe just needs some more time.

I'm diggin' the separate rooms.... since most of the talk usually ended in a "Perry vs. Insert-name-here" fest... it seems that SmfP was the topic de jour, more popular than the band the room was named for.....

So its only fitting that he get his own room... I also think its ironic how now that he HAS his own room that the Journey room has been a bit sloooooow.....
